Best of 2013 - Make-up edition

Rossetti Essence: la nuova linea mi è piaciuta davvero tantissimo. La qualità è davvero ottima, specie se comparata all'economico prezzo; sono cremosi, pigmentati, idratanti e hanno anche una buona durata.

Essence Lipsticks: I fell in love with the new line of Essence lipsticks. Their quality is really great, expecially compared to their price; they're creamy, pigmented, moisturizing and have a good longevity too.

Discontinued Day #06: Sleek iDivine Glory

e ben ritrovate con la quinta puntata del Discontinued Day. Oggi vi mostro una palette del 2012, la iDivine Glory di Sleek.
Adoro ogni cosa di questa palette: il concetto (è stata creata per i Giochi Olimpici di Londra), la qualità, la varietà dei colori, e non ultimo il fatto che abbiano abbinato i nomi delle linee della metropolitana al colore corrispondente.
Ogni ombretto ivi contenuto si distingue per pigmentazione e qualità (non sono assolutamente polverosi), nonché per durata, che varia dal buono all'eccellente. Pochi i matte, gli shimmer la fanno da padrone; inoltre c'è un'ottima proporzione tra colori "sobri" e più vivaci, il che la rende assolutamente versatile ed adatta a creare look per ogni occasione. Ad ulteriore dimostrazione di questa versatilità, segnalo che Central (il rosso acceso matte) è fantastico, se usato in piccole quantità, anche come blush - e ad essere onesta io l'ho usato esclusivamente in questo modo!

and welcome back to Discontinued Days, our monthly appointment with old stuff. Today I'm going to talk about one of my favourite palette ever, that's Sleek iDivine Glory. 
I love the concept (it was created for London Olympic Games), I love the fact that the names of the different underground lines matched with colours, I love every single shade and I love the quality of this palette. 
The eyeshadows contained in this little jewel have an incredible pigmentation, they're not chalky or dusty and they have a good or even excellent longevity. It contains only a few matte shades, but there's a good proportion between neutral and "sober" colours VS super bright colours, so you can really create a lot of different looks for different situations with just one palette. Central (the brigh red with a matte finish) can be also used as a blush, and this is a further evidence of the versatility of this palette.

Sleek i-Divine Candy Palette: swatches and review

Non sono mai stata una fan sfegata di Sleek, ma quando ho visto per la prima volta la press release della nuova palette i-Divine, la Candy, non ho avuto dubbi: dovevo averla!
Sono stata abbastanza fortunata da trovarla nella mia Sephora (strano, non hanno mai niente, ma niente niente eh, credo sia la più sfigata d'Italia) e l'ho arraffata al volo. Ovviamente la sfiga deve sempre toccarmi, per cui una volta aperta la palettina ho scoperto che la cialda del nero era rotta, come vedrete nelle foto. Meno male che il fidanzato mi ha aiutato a ricompattarla, ha fatto un lavoro egregio se non perfetto, a differenza mia che di certo avrei peggiorato la situazione.

I'm not Sleek's hugest fan, but I first saw the press release about their new palette, i-Divine Candy, I immediately fell in love and decided that I must have it!
I was lucky enough to find this palette in my usual Sephora store, which is quite unusual because doesn't usually carry Sleek products -  to be honest, in that store you can't find Urban Decay, you can't find Too Faced, you can't find Sleek, you can't find anything!!!!
But when I opened my palette I had a bad surprise: as you can see in my pics, an eyeshadow was broken. The black one, of course. My fiancé rescued it for me, he did a perfect job!

La Candy è esattamente ciò che io reputo la palette perfetta (e pucciosissima!): un tripudio di colori molto vivaci, ma non eccessivamente sfacciati anche perché modulabili.
Combina una serie di tonalità matte e shimmer sui toni del celeste, verde, viola e anche un blu, più chiaramente il classico nero matte (Liquorice) e un bianco perlato molto tenue per creare punti luce (Cream Soda).
I colori sono tutti ben pigmentati, con una menzione d'onore per Aniseed, Apple Sour, Pear Drop e Bon Bon. Al contrario, Bubble Gum e Flump hanno una pigmentazione davvero al di sotto della media di questa palette, e non entusiasmante in generale.
Gli ombretti non sono polverosi, sono facilmente modulabili e si sfumano bene.

i-Divine Candy is the perfect palette for me: it contains a lot of bright but not too loud colors, and they are buildable, so you can decide if you prefer a more or less intense look.
In fact this palette you can find greens, light blues, purples and a stunning blue, plus a classic matte black (Liquorice) and a pearly white (Cream Soda) which can be used to illuminate your looks.
I'm really happy with the pigmentation of the shades; the most pigmentated are Aniseed, Apple Sour, Pear Drop and Bon Bon. The least pigmentated are Bubble Gum and Flump - honestly, Flump is a bit disappointing!
Eyeshadows are not powdery, they blend easily and colors are buildable.

Insomma, a me è piaciuta tantissimo. Persino il packaging di cartoncino mi fa impazzire - e mi fa venire fame...! Personalmente la straconsiglio, in special modo a chi ama i colori caramellosi (come da nome della palettina, insomma) e vuole divertirsi con tonalità radiose e che mettono allegria.

In conclusion, I love this palette. I also love the design on the cardboard. Personally I recommend it, expecially for those ladies who like candy (!!!), bright and intense colours for their make-up looks

Il mio rossetto preferito in assoluto. Il rosso per eccellenza. Il mio rosso. Sì a Russian Red, sì a Ruby Woo ma... MAC Red non si batte!

I bought it a few months ago and it is my fav lipstick ever. This is MY red. Yes, Russian Red is nice, Ruby Woo is lovely but... MAC Red is the best!

Quest'anno ho adorato tutte, e dico tutte, le confezioni regalo che MAC ha ideato per il periodo festivo. Particolari curatissimi, packaging delizioso, sfizioso, talvolta di un kitsch davvero delirante, eppure così adorabili. Tra tutti ho scelto questi due kit, sia come best of che come regali per me medesima, perché trovo che siano quelli col miglior rapporto qualità/quantità/prezzo.
Ho un debole per i Crushed Metallic Pigments (lo scorso anno ho infatti preso il kit sui toni del blu): trovo che, se usati con attenzione, in quantità modiche e se lavorati bene, siano in grado di creare look d'effetto e dotati di luminosità difficilmente pareggiabile.
Ho poche parole da spendere per il kit labbra: la pochette è deliziosa, seriamente, avete mai visto qualcosa di più kitsch???? Non vi voglio annoiare decantandovi le notorie lodi dei lipgloss e dei rossetti MAC, quindi aggiungo solo che questa tonalità di rosa sembra essere stata creata per me.

I fell in love with every single kit that MAC made for Holiday 2012. I love the packaging, it's so cute, funny, wll-finished... And sometimes a bit kitsch!!!
I chose this kits (not only for the post, they were under my Christmas tree too!) because I think they had the best value for money. 
I'm deeply in love with Crushed Metallic Pigments (last year I bought a holiday kit with the blue version), maybe they're not the easiest to apply but I think they're great products; if you pay attention during application and you use them in small quantities, you can create stunning and super bright looks. 
Only a few words for Lip Look Bag: the pochette is so lovely, seriously, have you ever seen anything  kitscher????? I won't say anything about the quality of lipstick and lipgloss, we all know... But I have to say that this shade of pink is perfect for me!

Anche in questo caso: prezzo piccino picciò, qualità pazzesca. Questo grigio con una punta di blu e un tocco di metallizzato è diventato il mio compagno fedele negli ultimi mesi. Favoloso!

Super pigmentati, durevolissimi, facili da applicare, comodi da tenere in borsetta. Ho subito amato questi matitoni rossetti di Urban Decay, disponibili in otto colori shimmerosissimi.

It was love at the first sight. These lip pencils are highly pigmented, they have a wonderful longevity and they're easy to apply. They are available in eight super shimmered shades, and I picked Adrenaline (bright fuchsia) and Big Bang (bright pink).

Sleek iDivine Glory
Mi piace il concept (Olimpiadi 2012), mi piace che abbiano abbinato i nomi delle linee della metropolitana al colore corrispondente, mi piacciono i colori in sé, e la qualità è molto buona, soprattutto se guardiamo al prezzo. La palette che mi ha fatto capitolare nelle grinfie di Sleek (mi sa che ero l'unica al mondo a non avere mia preso nessuno dei loro prodotti).
