PBP introduces: CND Vinylux

Buona domenica sera a tutte!
Buona serata!

Good Sunday evening ladies!
For today's post I decided to do something different... I'd like to add a touch of science to the nail polish world. And I have the chance to do this thanks to CND Vinylux, a new line of nail polish by the US brand. CND has among its flagships Shellac, the semipermanent nail polish known all over the world and even chosen by Lisa Eldridge (but if you want to read the experience with Shellac of a mere mortal like me, click here!).
CND decided to reinvent itself by launching Vinylux, also called "weekly nail polish", which includes 62 shades (opaque, semi-sheer or sheer) plus a Weekly Top Coat.
What is Vinylux and which news does it introduce?
First-of all, CND promises that a manicure done with Vinylux lasts at least a week. So you have the possibility to change color more frequently than with Shellac but, at the same time, you don't have to worry about premature tip wear or chipping. Then, you don't need to apply a base coat, because the color doesn't stain. You only need to prepare your nails with a proper cleaning with Scrub Fresh or similar product. Another innovation is the Weekly Top Coat that, thanks to natural light, guarantees a bright and shining color until the last day. In the end, and most important for anyone who loves doing her own nails: you don't need an UV lamp or similar, application and removal of the products are the same as ever.
I'm going to test these products and write an accurate reportage from the point of view of performance in the next days (but I can't stop swatching, so I'm already psychologically prepared to have different nail polishes on my hands!!!!). And here ends the "fashion" aspect of this post, and begins the scientific part of the post.
In the press release, CND describes Vinylux nail polishes and Weekly Top Coat as a "system specifically designed to work in synergy. Patented technology Pro Light generates a powerful network of cross-linked polymers, which ensures resistance to chipping and longevity as that the nails are exposed to natural light. "
When I hear of polymers I always ask help to my expert, that's Mr. Pee. He kindly accepted to explain how this technology is supposed to work. First-of-all, what is a polymer? A long chain formed by a single unit (monomer) that is repeated in sequence. The polymer chains that constitute the nail polish have fluidity characteristics in order to assure a good application and the coverage of the entire nail. When the polish dries, however, these chains don't have a bond, and therefore the nail polish can scale causing chipping and similar. To overcome this problem, CND system promises to create, thanks to the action of a component contained in the top coat, a bond between the chains in order to form a grid that will make the nail polish layer more resistant. This also happens, for example, in dental resins: the creation of this bond is favored by the action of UV rays, which are still contained in the sunlight. And that is why CND talks about Pro Light technology and action implemented by the natural light. Hope that this little scientific digression has been interesting, anyway stay tuned because I will back in a couple of weeks with my impressions after the "road test".
Good evening and thank you for reading and watching!

Twinsie Friday: duochromes!

Hi ladies!
This is the last appointment with our Twinsie Fridays dedicated to duo and multichromes, but don't worry! We're coming back very soon with another weekly date!
For my final post I picked another Brazilian beauty by Hits Speciallità, that's Cutie Pie from Mari Moon collection.
I have 700 polishes in my stash and Cutie Pie is probably one of the my favourite ever. I have never seen something similar... It can be blue, it can be purple, or bright emerald green, or orange, or dark red... And I can assure you that in real life it is even more complex, I couldn't capture all its endless hues.
I can't find the right words to describe how stunning and chamaleonic it is!
In my pics you can see one coat of Cutie Pie over one coat of Illamasqua Viridian. The brush is quite flat and large, formula is nice and it applies easily. It also dries fast.
What else? Cutie Pie is pure perfection. No more words to say.
That's all I have for you today, thank you for reading and watching and have a nice week-end!

ABC Challenge: W for W7 Cosmic Blue

Hi ladies!
I had big plans for letter W... I wanted to create a water marble or a watercolor manicure with a different technique from my usual one, but I had a problem: I didn't have the time!
I'm really sorry for this, I really need to create a nail art...
Anyway, for letter W I picked an amazing nail polish, W7 Cosmic Blue. This polish had been in my untrieds box for almost one year and I can't understand why I waited for so long before wearing it.
W7 Cosmic Blue has a very sheer light blue base with tons and tons of bright light blue glitters. It also contains a few green and silver glitter particles. Three coats in my pics, it applies very easily but it took a while to dry.
I love the final effect on my nails, so sparkly! I hadn't worn a glitter for much time, which is really weird for me.
And that's all I have for you today, don't forget to check the picks of the other ladies!
Ops, I forgot: which nail art would you like to see in the next days? I'd like to do another YouTube video but I don't know what to choose. Please, tell me in the comments! Thank you and have a nice evening!

Ciao ragazze!

Hi ladies!
Here I am again with a stunning nail polish. I can't resist to flakies, you know!

I love wearing them over a black base, maybe it's not the most original choice but I think that it's the best way to exalt the multichrome effect of flakie polishes.
The nail polish of the day, Seventeen #103, has clear base with gold, green, blue and orange flakies. In my pics you can see two coats of Seventeen #103 over one coat of Orly Liquid Vinyl. On my ring finger I did a sort of accent-gradient effect. It applies easily and dries fast too.
What else? I think that the final effect is wonderful! Seventeen is a Greek brand with affordable prices that I have the opportunity to try thanks to Anne. Anne runs an on line shop called Polishinail, and you can find there brands like Golden Rose, Flormar, Perfect, Moyra and Kinetics, and of course nail art supplies and accessories. You will see more polishes by the above-mentioned brands in the next weeks!
If you want to do some shopping you can use my 8% off coupon code (on all webshop except packs), CRISTINA-8.
And that's all I have for you today, thank you for reading and watching and have a nice evening!

Twinsie Friday: duochromes! [Essence Where's the Party?]

Ciao ragazze!
Buon week-end a tutte!

Hi ladies!
I'm on the road, again. The weather is at last good and sunny and warm, but I'm super tired. I must admit I'd prefer to be in my bed now. Yawn.
Anyway, it's friday and this will be our second to last appointment with Twinsie Fridays. I picked an old shade by Essence, Where's the Party?.
My first approach with this polish was disappointing because it didn't dry. At all. It was probably a matter of "interference" between this polish and my usual base and top coat of that time, because I didn't have this problem during this second try. Of course, it doesn't dry THAT fast, but nothing dramatic.
Anyway, Where's the Party? is a shimmery duochrome which shows mostly its green and purple soul. But it also has grey, pink and blue reflects.
Formula is nice, even if brushstrokes are quite visible, and it has a good pigmentation too (two coats in my pics, no colored base underneath).
Super nice, isn't it?
And that's all I have for you today, I really hope I will be able to publish a new post on Sunday, I have three beautiful polishes to show you in one time!
Thank you for reading and watching and have a nice week-end!

ABC Challenge: V for Velluto [ft. Essence Mission Flower - Guerilla Gardening TE]

Hi ladies!
Today's post is about letter V, so I decided to show a velluto manicure! Velluto is the Italian word for velvet, and of course "manicure velluto" is how we call fuzzy or velvet manicure.
It's the first time that I try this kind of nail art, I have always been very curious but I wasn't sure if I liked the final effect or not! But when I found a brand new stand of Guerilla Gardening TE by Essence, which also includes two nail effect powders for velvet manicure, I decided to buy them and give them a chance.
Here I used the pink one, Mission Flower, over its namesake nail polish.
We all know that this kind of manicure lasts only a few hours but it could be a nice choice for a special night out.
Essence has been a bit mean, the powder container is reeeeally tiny, but you need only a few product for a complete manicure, so it's not that bad.
To be completely honest, I still don't know if velvet manicure is a yay or nay for me. On the contrary, I'm sure about my feelings for Mission Flower, and now I'm talking about the nail polish... I love it!
I'm mad about this kind of super bright pink with a strong blue undertone. Moreover, it's highly pigmentated (one thick coat in my pics), it dries super fast and very glossy and formula is great.
And that's all I have for you today, see you soon and have a nice evening!

Ciao ragazze!
