OPI On Her Majesty's Secret Service [and some resolutions for 2013]

Oggi vi parlo di uno smalto OPI piuttosto recente, On Her Majesty's Secret Service della collezione Skyfall, che mi è piaciuta così tanto che ho dovuto inserirla tra i miei preferiti smaltiferi del 2012.
Questo gioiellino, dal nome così lungo che mi toccherà usare il copia/incolla, è stato anche protagonista della mia water marble di fine anno.
Devo dire che è difficilissimo rendergli giustizia, con le foto o con le parole. E' uno smalto davvero complesso anche solo da descrivere.
Ci provo: On Her Majesty's Secret Service è un foil blu-argento infuso da milioni di shimmer verdi, viola, blu, rosa e dorati. Cambia moltissimo colore a seconda dell'angolazione della luce ma anche, a giudicare dagli swatches visti in rete, della carnagione di chi lo indossa: in altre foto l'ho visto virare molto più al verde o al viola, mentre su di me ed altre è decisamente blu-argento.
Formula ed applicazione perfette, stenderlo è davvero un piacere. Nelle mie foto potete vedere il risultato di due mani abbondanti. Tempi di asciugatura piuttosto rapidi e durata ottima.
Giudizio finale: lo dovete avere!
Ed ora, due ciance inter nos. Avrei voluto sottoporvi i miei buoni propositi, per lo più bloggari, per il 2013. Poi mi son resa conto che ne avevo scritti solo due ed avevo passato mezzora a fissare lo schermo del laptop in preda ad uno stato di trance. Quindi mi limito a promettervi solennemente che, in questo 2013, continuerò il trend positivo del "proviamo questa o quella nail art" e vi proporrò almeno una nail art al mese. Non importa di che tipo, ma almeno una.
Inoltre proverò a scrivere almeno un post make upposo, o comunque non relativo agli smalti, ogni due settimane, cosa che mi aiuterà anche ad aggiornare più frequentemente il blog.
Ah, magari anche mettere on line il nuovo layout entro fine gennaio! Mi manca solo l'header, ho chiesto aiuto perché io non sono assolutamente in grado di farlo!

Today I'm going to show you a very special polish, On Her Majesty's Secret Service from OPI Skyfall Collection. You probably know that I've really appreciated a lot this collection, in fact I included it in my most fav polished products of 2012.
I also used On Her Majesty's Secret Service for my New Year's Eve water marble.
It is really difficult to describe this polish... And it's even more difficult to capture its beauty with pictures.
I try: On Her Majesty's Secret Service is a blue-silver foil with millions of blue, purple, gold, green and pink shimmer particles. The color changes a lot depending on the angle of the light, and I think it changes a lot also depending on the skin color. In many swatches I saw on line, it looks more green or purple based. On me, it definitely looks blue-silver based. 
Formula is great and application is super easy. Two heavy coats in my pics. It dries quite fast and longevity is really high.
Final judgement: you must have this!
Before leaving, a couple of extra considerations. I wanted to share with you my resolutions for 2013 (expecially in the blogging field). I wrote a couple of them and then I stopped. The vacuum. I'm not good with this kind of lists! 
Anyway, during this new year I want to try many other nail art techniques. I'd like to post at least a nail art a month.
Moreover, I'd like to write at least one post about make up or body products every two weeks. This will help to update more often my blog.
Ah, I forgot: in the last two months I've been working on a new template (I know, I'm slow), I asked some help for the last detail (a new header), so I hope I could put it on line before the end of January.

New Year's Eve Manicure: red and gold green water marble

Salve a tutte!
Post veloce per mostrarvi l'ultima manicure dell'anno... E non potevo che chiudere in bellezza con una water marble, che non facevo proprio dal Capodanno 2011!
Per realizzarla ho usato come base l'H&M Gold, per dare un tocco di dorato caldo, l'Orly Torrid, il rosso festivo per eccellenza, e l'OPI On Her Majesty's Secret Service, uno smalto così fantastico e multisfaccettato che è davvero difficile descriverlo: un trionfo di verde-blu-viola-argento a seconda della luce. O magari preferite la definizione della mia amica Eleonora che lo ha descritto come "orgasmo policromico".
Il motivo scelto varia a seconda delle unghie, ho alternato la ragnatela, alla zebra, alla stella di Natale.
Vi lascio alle foto e, ovviamente, auguro a tutte voi una serata di festeggiamenti scoppiettante, seguita da un 2013 che non deluda le vostre aspettative.
Per me il 2012 è stato un annus horribilis, le prospettive per l'anno nuovo non sono esattamente esaltanti, anzi, ma spero di avere sempre la forza e il coraggio di piegarmi ma non spezzarmi alle avversità.
Io continuo a crederci!

A quick post just to show you my New Year's Eve Manicure... I did a water marble because I was missing this kind of nail art, I realized my last water marble one year ago!
Here I used H&M Gold as a base because I wanted to add a warm gold touch to the background of the water marble; for the main design I used Orly Torrid, the best festive red of the last years, and OPI On Her Majesty's Secret Service. This polish is very hard to describe... It's a stunning, amazing, prismatic product. Depending on the light, it can be blue, green, purple or silver... Pure love at the first coat!
I used three different patterns depending on the nail: I did zebra, Christmas Poinsetta and spider web designs.
Well, this is my last post of the year and I wish you a super funny New Year's Eve party. I really hope that the new year will be great for all of you and that your expectations won't be disappointed.
To me, 2012 was a horrible year, I don't think that 2013 will be better but I won't stop hoping for better times. I also hope that I'll have the strenght to face all the new challenges of my life.

Quest'anno ho adorato tutte, e dico tutte, le confezioni regalo che MAC ha ideato per il periodo festivo. Particolari curatissimi, packaging delizioso, sfizioso, talvolta di un kitsch davvero delirante, eppure così adorabili. Tra tutti ho scelto questi due kit, sia come best of che come regali per me medesima, perché trovo che siano quelli col miglior rapporto qualità/quantità/prezzo.
Ho un debole per i Crushed Metallic Pigments (lo scorso anno ho infatti preso il kit sui toni del blu): trovo che, se usati con attenzione, in quantità modiche e se lavorati bene, siano in grado di creare look d'effetto e dotati di luminosità difficilmente pareggiabile.
Ho poche parole da spendere per il kit labbra: la pochette è deliziosa, seriamente, avete mai visto qualcosa di più kitsch???? Non vi voglio annoiare decantandovi le notorie lodi dei lipgloss e dei rossetti MAC, quindi aggiungo solo che questa tonalità di rosa sembra essere stata creata per me.

I fell in love with every single kit that MAC made for Holiday 2012. I love the packaging, it's so cute, funny, wll-finished... And sometimes a bit kitsch!!!
I chose this kits (not only for the post, they were under my Christmas tree too!) because I think they had the best value for money. 
I'm deeply in love with Crushed Metallic Pigments (last year I bought a holiday kit with the blue version), maybe they're not the easiest to apply but I think they're great products; if you pay attention during application and you use them in small quantities, you can create stunning and super bright looks. 
Only a few words for Lip Look Bag: the pochette is so lovely, seriously, have you ever seen anything  kitscher????? I won't say anything about the quality of lipstick and lipgloss, we all know... But I have to say that this shade of pink is perfect for me!

Sleek iDivine Glory
Mi piace il concept (Olimpiadi 2012), mi piace che abbiano abbinato i nomi delle linee della metropolitana al colore corrispondente, mi piacciono i colori in sé, e la qualità è molto buona, soprattutto se guardiamo al prezzo. La palette che mi ha fatto capitolare nelle grinfie di Sleek (mi sa che ero l'unica al mondo a non avere mia preso nessuno dei loro prodotti).

I love the concept (it was created for the Olympic Games), I love the fact that the names of the different underground lines matched with colors, I love every single shade and I love the quality of the palette. This is my first Sleek product, I had never considered this brand for a purchase before I saw Glory for the first time.

ABC Challenge: my stats and collage!

La ABC Challenge è terminata, ma non temete: abbiamo in serbo per voi, che avete avuto la buona volontà e la voglia di seguirci, tanti altri progetti!
Ho deciso di infarcire questo post di "farewell" con un po' di statistiche. Pronte?

Durante la Challenge vi ho mostrato 20 smalti singoli appartenenti a 20 brand diversi e 8 nail art.
Dei marchi mostrati, quattro sono italiani, sei europei e ben dieci di paesi extra UE.
Riguardo al mio colore predominante, svettano su tutti il viola e il verde con cinque entries cadauno; a ruota il blu od azzurro (4), il rosa (3), il rosso scuro/marrone (2) e il nero (1).
Per quanto riguarda il finish: vince il creme (5 smalti), seguito da olografico e shimmer (3 a testa), due duochrome e due neon, mentre a foil, flakies e matte è toccato un prodotto a testa.

ABC Challenge is over, but as I already wrote a couple of times, we have many other projects that will start soon.
Just to say "farewell" to my first polished marathon, I have a few stats and a nice collage for you.

During the Challenge I showed 20 individual polishes of 20 different brands. Moreover I made 8 nail arts.
Four polishes were by Italian brands, six of them were by European brands and ten of them were by extra UE brands.
Green and purple were my fav colors for this marathon (5 entries each), four posts featured a blue or light blue polish, three polishes were pink, two red/brown and only one polish was black.
About the finish: creme was the most popular, holographic and shimmer followed with three entries each, then duochrome and neon (two posts each) and then matte, flakies and foil (one polish each).

ABC Challenge - The final post: Z for Zoya Dovima

Ed eccoci qua: siamo arrivate al post finale della nostra Challenge.
Per la Z ero da tempo orientata su uno smalto Zoya, in particolare su un matte; sono stata indecisa fino all'ultimo tra il Posh e il Dovima, per poi scegliere quest'ultimo per uscire un po' dal seminato degli smalti rossi, che avrete visto in tutte le salse in questo periodo.
Comunque: Dovima proviene dalla collezione MatteVelvet del 2009, anno in cui i matte hanno conosciuto il loro massimo picco di gloria. Si tratta di un bel nero matte shimmer (o suede se preferite) coprente quasi con una sola passata, dalla formula densa e corposa.
L'applicazione non è agevolissima, dovete fare davvero attenzione anche perché questi smalti si asciugano davvero alla velocità della luce e ripassare una volta in più o tentennare potrebbe costarvi un pastrocchio.
La durata non è delle migliori, non sono mai riuscita a portare nessuno di questi smalti oltre il terzo giorno, e non c'è base gommosa, top coat o trucchetto del sandwich che tenga.
Se da un lato devo ammettere che oggigiorno esistono dei top coat effetto matte davvero efficaci, devo anche dire che questi Zoya MatteVelvet hanno un finish che nessun topper riesce ad imitare.
Insomma la premiata ditta Dovima - Posh (rosso) - Savita (viola) - Veruschka (verde) è sempre nel mio cuore e non mi pento affatto dell'acquisto.
Bene, il sipario si chiude sulla ABC Challenge. E' stata una bellissima avventura e sicuramente riproporremo qualcosa sulla stessa falsariga per cui... Asciugatevi le lacrime, torneremo presto!

and welcome back to ABC Challenge! This is the final post, sigh sob.
Since the beginning of the Challenge I picked Zoya for the last letter. But I wasn't sure about the shade... I wanted a matte and I didn't know which one to choose between Posh (an intense red) and Dovima.
In the end I wore Dovima because I didn't want to show another red polish during the festive period.
Anyway: Dovima (from MatteVelvet Collection for Winter 2009-2010) is an intense black with a matte shimmer (or suede, if you prefer) finish.
Its pigmentation is really high, it could be a one coater, and its formula is quite thick. Since this polish also dries lightning fast, you have to be very careful and fast during application.
Longevity is not the best ever, I tried to use a rubberized base coat or even using the sandwich method, but this polish chips after three days.
We all know that actually there are lots of matte top coats available and they can transform any polish in a matte. But I think that Zoya mattes (or suedes) have a kind of effect that it's impossible to obtain with a matte topper. For this reason I am very happy with the four mattes I own (Dovima, Posh, Veruschka and Savita).
Well, this is the end of ABC Challenge. It was a long but beautiful marathon and I'm sorry that it's over. We are already planning other challenges so stay tuned!

ABC Challenge: Y for Color Club Youthquake [and Merry Xmas!]

Cosa c'è di più deviante di pubblicare, la vigilia di Natale, uno smalto NEON? Quindi ecco la mia proposta per un Natale smaltifero alternativo: Color Club Youthquake.
Uno smalto molto particolare, in realtà: in boccetta è rosa neon. Ma se lo andate ad applicare da solo, apparirà come un arancio-corallo. E faticherete non poco, perché messo da solo ci vogliono quattro mani per avere la coprenza (che non sarà neppure perfetta).
Se layerizzato sopra un bianco, invece, vi si mostrerà in tutto il suo splendore di rosa evidenziatore (tié, beccateve pure la rima).
Nelle mie foto, su indice e medio ci sono quattro mani di Youthquake solo soletto, su anulare e mignolo ci sono due passate sopra una mano di Orly Dayglow. Per fortuna la formula è fantastica, si applica con semplicità estrema, così il lavoro extra non sarà eccessivamente gravoso. L'asciugatura non è rapidissima, complici le numerose mani da stendere, e la durata è molto buona.
Scappo letteralmente, ho fatto tardissimo e devo prepararmi per il cenone della Vigilia, e ne approfitto per augurare a tutte voi un FAVOLOSO NATALE! Abbraccio voi e le vostre famiglie e... A presto!


This is an "alternative" post. You know, it's quite odd to wear a neon polish during the winter. 
It's even odder to show a neon polish on Christmas Eve. Anyway, this was my pick for letter Y: Color Club Youthquake.
It's a very particular color: in the bottle it looks like a neon pink. But if you wear it alone, it will look like a neon orange-coral. If you apply it over a white base, it will appear like a neon pink. Quite strange, don't you think? 
You can see this difference on my nails: on the index and on the middle there are four (yes, FOUR) coats of Youthquake. On the ring and on the pinkie there are two coats of Youthquake over one coat of Orly Dayglow. 
Its formula is great, which is a good thing, considering that you have to do many coats of this polish. Drying time is a bit longer than usual and longevity is quite good. 
Well, that's all I have for you today, I have to hurry up because I'm late for my Christmas Eve dinner. But before to go, I want to wish to all of you a great Christmas. Best wishes and many hugs from Italy!
