Mish Mash Challenge #02: TAPING [Rainbow Beams Nail Art]
Hi ladies!
I know, I'm late for the party... Again! But better late than never, so I'm ready for my first post of MISH MASH Challenge hosted by Kimber! I'm so happy to be part of this amazing group of ladies again, ABC Challenge was such a wonderful experience and I was so sorry when it was over.
Anyway, the theme of today's post is TAPING, and I decided to use striping tape in a creative way.
I did a video tutorial for this nail art so I won't bore you with the details of the procedure.
But here it is the list of the nail polishes I used:
- Orly Dayglow as base color for the rainbow gradient;
- Orly Glowstick (yellow), Orly Melt Your Popsicle (orange), Orly Beach Cruiser (bright pink), Orly Skinny Dip (blue), Inocos Verde Txaran (green) for the rainbow gradient itself;
- Orly Liquid Vinyl (black) as contrast color.
I know, this post is very picture heavy but I'm really proud of this nail art, it's probably my favourite creation ever and I hope you like it too!

Sono in ritardo alla festa, ma meglio tardi che mai! Eh sì, con le ragazze della ABC Challenge 2013 abbiamo deciso di imbarcarci in un'altra impresa, la Mish Mash! Sono davvero felice di essere di nuovo parte di questo gruppo composto da splendide persone.
In ogni caso, il tema del post di oggi è il TAPING, e io ho deciso di utilizzare lo striping tape in modo più creativo possibile. Ho fatto un video tutorial per questa nail art, che editerò appena possibile, per cui non starò a tediarvi coi dettagli del procedimento. Nel frattempo, ecco la lista dei prodotti utilizzati:
- Orly Dayglow come base bianca per esaltare la gradient arcobaleno;
- Orly Glowstick (giallo), Orly Melt Your Popsicle (arancio), Orly Beach Cruiser (rosa acceso), Orly Skinny Dip (azzurro), Inocos Verde Txaran (verde) per la gradient arcobaleno stessa;
- Orly Liquid Vinyl (nero) come colore di contrasto.
Lo so, questo post è strapieno di foto ma sono particolarmente orgogliosa di questa nail art, probabilmente è la mia preferita tra le mie creazioni, e ovviamente spero che piaccia anche a voi.

Geometrical Nails with Orly So Go-Diva
Buonasera bellezze!
Post rapido per mostrarvi una semplice nail art geometrica che ho realizzato col Basic Beauty #49 come base.
Utilizzando il nastro adesivo per essere più precisa, ho creato dei triangoli ed altre figure geometriche di dubbia esistenza applicando l'Orly So Go-Diva (che avete già visto in azione qui), ovvero un festoso glitter con base trasparente e particelle luccicanti quadrate ed esagonali color bronzo/rame.
Sul pollice potete vedere invece in azione due passate di So Go-Diva.
Come tutti i glitter della Flash Glam che ho provato, So Go-Diva ha formula corposa ma facile da stendere ed asciuga in modo sorprendentemente rapido.
Chiaramente questo genere di smalto dà il meglio di sé per il layering o per le nail arts, dunque ci si può giocare sostanzialmente all'infinito, basta un po' di fantasia.

A quick post just to show you a simply geometrical nail art I created with Basic Beauty #49 as base color.
I used scotch tape to create triangles and other geometrical forms by applying Orly So Go-Diva (I've already showed you it here).
So Go-Diva is a mix of smaller copper/bronze squared glitters and bigger hex glitters in a clear base.
On my thumb you can see two coats of So Go-Diva over Basic Beauty #49.
Like all the other polishes from Flash Glam FX Collection I've tried, So Go-Diva has a thick but easy to apply formula and it dries fast, which was a nice surprise because I used a great quantity of product for my creations.
Obviously this kind of polish is great for layering and other kinds of nail arts, so you can play and have a lot of fun with it.

ABC Challenge: F for French Manicure [ft. Orly Flare and Glow]
FFFFFFFFFFFF. Potevo esimermi dalla french manicure? No, anche perché ho recentemente accorciato gli artigli di ben 4 mm, e credo che ormai abbiano una lunghezza tale da poter azzardare una french senza rischiare l'effetto "attrice di film per adulti" (ahem, coff coff).
Piccola parentesi: credo di essere l'unica a vederle corte. So che per le persone normodotate cerebralmente NON è così, proprio per niente. Anche se... Domenica sera ero lì, piagnucolante, che vedevo queste unghie piccine picciò, ma quando il giorno dopo sono andata a farci la french... Mi sono resa conto che sono ancora lunghe. Psicopatia, vieni a me.
Comunque sia, non avevo voglia della classica french, e ho provato a reinterpretarla con uno stile a metà tra il classico e il glamour.
Come base ho scelto un color cipria, l'Orly Glow che vi ho già introdotto nel post della Fired Up Collection. Dopo aver isolato con lo scotch la parte finale delle unghie, ho applicato l'Orly Flare, un oro shimmerosissimo, sempre della recente collezione Fired Up.
Ovviamente vi mostrerò questi smalti anche singolarmente, anzi non vedo l'ora, sono particolarmente entusiasta di Glow, è un one coater!!! Yeah!
Infine, alla base dell'unghia ho applicato tre brillantini dorati, uno del diametro di 2 mm e due del diametro di 1 mm, dal kit di Viva La Nails. Spero di non averlo già detto, ma adoro questi mini kit: dentro ci sono brillantini di vari diametri, che consentono davvero di giocare in mille maniere diverse.
Questa era la mia F, spero vi sia piaciuta! Auguro a tutte una buona giornata e non dimenticate di guardare le entries delle mie compagne di challenge!

Last Sunday I was obliged to heavily file my nails, which were toooooo long (IMO) for a french manicure. I know, I am probably the only one who thinks they are "short", but I think that now they have the right lenght for a french manicure (again, IMO).
Even if I was in the right mood for a french mani, I didn't want a "classic" one. So I tried to realize a combo that I consider classic but glamour at the same time.
I started painting my nails with Orly Glow, a nude with a hint of pink and a creme finish that belongs to the recent Fired Up Collection (here it is my introduction).
Then I applied Orly Flare for the tips, using the scotch tape for a better result. Flare is a shimmering gold which is also part of Fired Up Collection.
Obviously I will show you these polishes separately, can't wait!
As a final touch, I applied three rhinestones at the base of each nails. The central rhinestone has a diameter of 2 mm, the other two have a diameter of 1 mm. These glass stones come from a kit that Viva La Nails sent me several months ago. I love it because it contains 50 pieces in four different sizes, so you can play a lot with them and realize many combinations and decorative patterns.

Two polishes are better than one: Essence Carrie e Mr. Big
Buonasera a tutte! Vediamo se riesco a portare a termine questo post, tra un rantolo e un altro (che immagine poetica). Come si direbbe dalle mie parti, in questi giorni potrei giusto servire a dare lo straccio in terra.
In ogni caso: oggi vi presento due smalti della linea Twins di Essence, ovvero Carrie e Mr. Big. Perché, parafrasando ciò che diceva il buon Accorsi nella pubblicità del Maxibon: "Tu smalt is megl che uan!".
So che sono stati eliminati dalla collezione permanente per fare spazio ad altre coppie, ma di tanto in tanto li vedo riapparire negli stands della mia città. Dunque, se vi dovessero piacere, provate comunque a buttare un occhio in giro, magari li trovate!
Devo ammettere che ho preso questi smalti solo ed esclusivamente per il nome: definirmi fanatica di Sex and the City è riduttivo. Quando sono stata a New York ho fatto scarpinare il mio povero fidanzato per chilometri per trovare la casa di Carrie. Ho poi rischiato non poco al JFK, perché avevo messo nel bagaglio a mano i bicchieri da martini comprati al negozio della HBO, cosa che non si potrebbe fare - il vetro è considerato potenziale arma impropria, basta romperlo et voilà! Nonostante le numerose domande e la particolare attenzione che ci ha prestato un ENORME addetto alla sicurezza, è andato tutto bene.
Comunque, tornando ai nostri smalti, è buffo come un "acquisto forzato", alla fin fine, mi abbia soddisfatta così tanto!
Mr. Big, il colore di base, che mi sembrava un moscissimo viola/fuchsia creme, è molto più bello una volta applicato che nella boccetta. Si stende che è una meraviglia, ha una formula perfetta, è coprente in due mani sottili ed è lucidissimo. Asciuga molto in fretta e ha una buonissima durata.
Carrie, lo smalto glitter abbinato, ha una base trasparente in cui sono annegati microglitter rosa e glitter più grandi, quadrati ed esagonali, sia rosa che fuchsia. Ora, pur essendo un'amante esagerata di glitter glitterosissimi, temevo un po' l'effetto stroboscopico applicandoli su tutte le unghie, per cui ho deciso di usarli in modo leggermente diverso.
Su tutte le unghie, fuorché sull'anulare, ho messo un po' di scotch, in modo da isolare solo una parte dell'unghia stessa, e ho dato due mani di Carrie. Infine, ho sigillato il tutto con del top coat fast drying, il solito Sally Hansen Insta Dry.
L'unico appunto che posso fare è che Carrie non sembra andare del tutto d'accordo con l'Insta Dry, poiché ho notato un accenno di shrinkage (del tutto trascurabile a più di 10 cm di distanza!).
Mi son piaciuti moltissimo, davvero, e sono molto orgogliona del mio primo tentativo di scotch tape manicure, molto basilare in realtà, ma ne vado comunque fiera.

Good evening ladies! I'm still sick and I'm a bit sorry for that: during the last two days the weather has been fantastic (quite cold, but very sunny) but I have spent my free time after work in bed.
Ok, back to us: today I'm going to introduce you an old couple of Essence Twins: Carrie and Mr. Big. They are discontinued but sometimes I see them in an Essence stand in my city. So, if you missed them, try to take a look anyway in your favourite Essence stores.
I must admit that I bought those polishes only for their names. I am a FANATIC of Sex and the City! When I visited New York, two years ago, I walked for kilometers searching for Carrie's house. I also bought the Martini glasses from the HBO store and I risked a lot at JFK airport because I put them in my hand luggage - this is forbidden, glass can be transformed in a weapon if broken. Infact a security operator, who was really giant (*fear*), made me a lot a questions. Ahem.
Ok, talking about our polishes: when I used them, I changed my opinion and I'm really happy that I bought them!
Mr. Big, the base colour, is much better IRL than in the bottle. It's a purple/fuchsia creme with an amazing formula. Application is really easy, it only needs two thin coats to obtain a perfect opacity and it's really glossy even without top coat. It dries fast and has a good longevity too.
Carrie, the matching glitter top coat, has a clear base with pink microglitters, and bigger pink and fuchsia glitters with square/hex shape. I applied Carrie only on a part of my nails (except for ring fingers), using scotch tape to obtain a clearer result: I really love glitters but I didn't want a "stroboscopic" manicure.
I noticed a minor shrinkage, so I think that Carrie doesn't get on well with Sally Hansen Insta Dry.
In conclusion: I really love Carrie and Mr Big and I'm really proud also of my first scotch tape manicure - I know, I used scotch tape in an elementary way, but since I'm clumsy I'm really happy with it.
