Stamping time: Wedding Lace

Ciao stellassssse!
Post breve oggi, giusto per mostrarvi uno stamping che ho realizzato qualche settimana fa.
Sono partita dal rosa delicato Andy Maid AM198 e ho scelto un design merlettoso dalla plate BP-02 di Born Pretty Store. Come smalto da stamping ho utilizzato un argento effetto specchio che non delude mai, ovvero lo Stargazer Chrome #232.
Et voilà, il risultato potete vederlo voi stesse. Molto nuziale come nail art, non trovate?!

Very short post today, just to show you a nail stamping I did some weeks ago.
I started from the delicate pink of Andy Maid AM198 and then I picked a laced design from my BP-02 stamping plate (created by Born Pretty Store). As stamping polish I used a silver with a mirror effect, that's Stargazer Chrome #232, which worked perfectly as usual.
Et voilà, you can see the final result in my pics. A perfect wedding manicure, don't you think?

Se mi seguite da un po', non sarà per voi una gran scoperta sapere che Jade è uno dei miei brand preferiti: i suoi smalti holo son così belli da farti commuovere, di certo non lesinano sulla polvere di fata che ci mettono dentro.

No, seriamente, non so da voi, ma qui fa freddo, c'è un ventaccio assurdo e piove. Ma che due bolas... Gloriosi piani a base di smalti holo andati in fumo, ma vabbé, torniamo al tema del giorno!
Sì, perché oggi, grazie alla Finishpedia si parla di smalti magnetici.
I magnetici sono smalti arricchiti di particelle metalliche di colore diverso dalla base e che, grazie all'azione di un magnete, possono essere distribuite in modo simmetrico sull'unghia, andando a creare dei decori. In genere sono molto pigmentati e funzionano molto bene per lo stamping.

Winter Nail Art Challenge #04: ORNAMENTS

Unfortunately I missed some appointments with our Winter Nail Art Challenge, but I'm finally back!
Today's theme in tinsel or ornaments, and I decided to draw some holographic Christmas ball ornamentes on my nails.
I started with Zoya Toni, a purple creme, as a base. Then I did a sort of reverse glitter gradient with China Glaze Gold Digger and Angel Wings. Moreover, I used China Glaze Cheers to you for the ornaments strings and a lot of holographic nail polishes for the Xmas balls! Here it's the list:

Se seguite il mio blog da un po', saprete sicuramente che non sono il tipo che indossa certi colori in certi periodi "perché è così che va". Non ho problemi a mettermi uno smalto giallo neon di inverno, un rossetto rosso fuoco alle 8 di mattina, un ombretto verde brillante per Capodanno. Ma nel periodo natalizio succede qualcosa di strano e mi viene voglia di cospargere unghie, occhi e labbra dei "soliti noti", per cui vai di rosso, oro, un tocco di verde scuro e argento e ovviamente glitter. Insomma, ecco a voi i miei raccomandati per il periodo natalizio!

If you're a long time follower of my blog you'd probably know that I'm not the kind of person who wears a color in a certain period of the year because of fixed rules. I have no problem in wearing a neon yellow nail polish during the Winter, or a fatal red lipstick at 8 am, or a bright green eyeshadow for a New Year's Eve Party. But during Christmas time I tend to use the same products and "classic" colours for this period: a lot of gold and red with a touch of silver and green. And, of course, glitters everywhere! Well, in short, these are my Christmas favourites!

Orly Hope and Freedom Fest Collection: swatches and review [I part]

Buonasera ragazze!
Eccomi di nuovo qui con un post particolarmente ricco: oggi vi presento infatti tre dei sei smalti di cui si compone la collezione Hope and Freedom Fest di Orly per la primavera 2013.
Innanzitutto, di questa collezione ho molto apprezzato il bilanciamento di finish dei colori proposti: due infatti sono creme, due shimmer e due glitter (per la precisione, un glitter puro e un holo glitter).
Ma vediamo nello specifico i primi tre smalti!

Here I am again with a very looong post: today I'm going to show you three out of six nail polishes from Orly Hope and Freedom Fest for Spring 2013.
First-of-all, I like the fact that this collection brings us three different finishes: two shades are creme, two are shimmer and two are glitter (to be precise, one is a pure glitter and one is a holo glitter).
But let's focus on the first three polishes!

Boho Bonnet è un grigio-azzurro dal finish creme e dalla formula davvero impeccabile. Applicazione fluida e scorrevole, pigmentazione molto buona (2 mani per la coprenza perfetta) ed asciugatura molto rapida. E' uno smalto incredibilmente lucido anche senza top coat. Anche la durata è davvero ottima. Base perfetta per stamping e nail art di qualunque tipo, vi consiglio di vederlo in azione anche qui, così potrete ammirare come appare anche alla luce solare diretta.

Boho Bonnet is a muted grey/light blue with a creme finish and a perfect formula. Application is easy and pleasant, pigmentation is quite high (two coats for the perfect coverage) and drying time is fast too. I was really happy also with the extremely high longevity. Boho Bonnet dries glossy even without a top coat. It's the perfect base for stamping or any kind of nail art, and I'd suggest to take a look at the nail art I created over it, so you can also admire Boho Bonnet in direct sunlight.

Coachella Dweller è un verde creme molto chiaro anch'esso dal finish cremoso. A livello qualitativo ha molto in comune con Boho Bonnet: la formula perfetta consente un'applicazione scorrevole e confortevole. Due mani per la coprenza delle foto, asciugatura rapida e durata ottima, nonché finish incredibilmente lucido anche senza top coat. Non ho resistito a creare una nail art neppure su di lui, che potete vedere qui.

Coachella Dweller is a pale green with a creme finish with a quality which is really similar to Boho Bonnet: formula is great, it has a perfect coverage in two coats, it dries fast and has a high longevity too. Coachella Dweller dries ultra glossy even without top coat. I couldn't resist and I created a nail art over it, you can check it there if you missed it!

Peaceful Opposition è lo smalto più fuori dal comune del trio: ha una base bianco latte con glitter argentei quadrati ed esagonali. Ho provato ad applicarlo sia da solo che come layering: su indice ed anulare potete vedere tre mani di Peaceful Opposition, mentre su medio e mignolo una mano di Orly Dayglow e una passata di Peaceful Opposition.
Devo dire che lo preferisco decisamente da solo, è veramente particolarissimo, non credo di aver mai visto nulla del genere! L'applicazione richiede qualche accortezza, ovvero aspettare qualche minuto tra una mano e l'altra. L'asciugatura è abbastanza rapida e la durata ottima. Infine, i glitter rimangono ben "imprigionati" nello smalto e non sono né ruvidi al tatto né sporgenti.

Peaceful Opposition is the most unusual shade of the trio: I don't think I have ever seen something similar in my "career" of professional polishaholic!!! 
Peaceful Opposition has a milky white base with hex and square silver glitters. In my pics you can see it alone (index and ring fingers, three coats) or layered over Orly Dayglow (one coat for each polish).
You have to be a bit careful during application, wait a few minutes between each coat if you don't want to create a mess! Drying time is quite fast and longevity is high. 
I really like it also because its glitters don't curl.

Finora sono davvero entusiasta di questa collezione, anche dal punto di vista qualitativo. Ammetto di aver lasciato per la seconda parte quelli che, almeno sulla carta, sono i miei preferiti. E se le premesse sono queste... Yuppi! E anche per oggi è tutto, vi auguro una buona serata e... A presto!

Nails Inc Jubilee 3D Glitter

Nails Inc è una di quelle marche che rincorrevo da tempo, ma avevo sempre rimandato l'acquisto degli smalti presenti nella mia wishlist per via del costo piuttosto elevato.
In particolare, le mie mire si concentravano sul Jubilee 3D Glitter, smalto uscito lo scorso anno in edizione limitata (ma si trova ancora tranquillamente on line) in occasione del Giubileo della Regina Elisabetta. Dopo aver monitorato diversi siti, mi sono decisa ad acquistarlo grazie ai saldi dello scorso gennaio.
Il Jubilee 3D Glitter mi ha colpita innanzitutto per via del packaging ricercato e decisamente kitsch: il tappo è completamente e generosamente decorato con degli strass argentati. Assolutamente accecante!
Lo smalto in sé consiste in una base trasparente con abbondantissimi glitter rossi, argento e blu. Io l'ho usato per una glitter gradient (il colore di base è l'H&M Something Blue), anche se non è stato proprio semplice perché asciuga davvero velocemente. Sull'anulare ho invece dato una sola mano piena di Jubilee 3D Glitter, il che vi fa capire quanto siano fitti e coprenti i glitter.
Inutile dirvi che io amo alla follia questo smalto, è di certo nella mia top three dei glitter in mio possesso, lo trovo spettacolare, scenografico ed anche un po' folle.

Jubilee 3D Glitter is my first Nails Inc product. I've always been interested in this brand, but since it's quite expensive, I've have waited a lot before purchasing one of their nail polishes.
Last January I discovered a sale on Nails Inc products on Beauty Bay and I finally placed a small order... Ta daaaan! After a few weeks Jubilee 3D Glitter was in my hands, and it immediately became one of my favourite polish ever.
As its name suggests, it has been launched to celebrate the Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II; it's a limited edition polish, but you can still easily find it on line.
First-of-all, I love the packaging: it's so well-finished, refined and... A bit kitsch! Its cap is completely decorated and covered with clear rhinestones... It's so bright and crazy!
Talking about the polish itself, Jubilee 3D Glitter has a clear base and lots of blue, silver and red glitters. I used it for a simple glitter gradient (it wasn't that easy because it dries super fast) over H&M Something Blue; on the ring finger I applied one coat of Jubilee 3D Glitter.
I really love this product, it's one of the best glitter polishes I have ever seen.

Essence Edward's Love [Breaking Dawn TE]

Salve ragazze!
Oggi vi propongo un altro smalto della Breaking Dawn Part 2 TE, finché si trova in giro (io l'ho presa allo Smoll all'inizio dell'anno) ne approfitto per mostrarvi quello che ho comprato.
Edward's Love è un nero con micro flakies argentati iridescenti. In realtà quest'ultima "qualità" è assai difficile da apprezzare perché è molto nascosta! Mi spiego meglio: mentre stendevo la prima mano, con luce artificiale, ho notato che questi flakies avevano splendidi riflessi rosa e verdi. Una volta completata la stesura con una seconda passata, quest'iridescenza è scomparsa quasi completamente.
Neppure la luce solare riesce a farla "venire fuori". Peccato: anche così rimane uno smalto davvero bello, ma un tocco in più lo avrebbe reso favoloso.
Coprenza eccellente, quasi quasi è un one coater, ed asciugatura molto rapida.
Per quanto riguarda l'applicazione, mi ripeterò: la formula densa (persino più dell'Alice Had a Vision Again) e il pennellazzo malefico me l'han resa proprio antipatica.
Durata: 4 giorni, perfettamente nella media Essence.
Per oggi è tutto, vi abbraccio e vi dò appuntamento a prestissimo con una nail art che mi ha gasata tantissimo, non vedo l'ora di mostrarvela (fossi in grado di usare Instagram potrei persino fare delle preview, ma vabbé). Buon week-end a tutte!

Today I have another nail polish from Breaking Dawn Part 2 TE by Essence. Here in Italy this TE is still available, so I'd like to show you the swatches of all the nail polishes as soon as possible.
Edward's Love has a black base with silver iridescent micro flakies. Unluckily it is really difficult to see this iridescence: I've noticed it during the application of the first coat of Edward's Love, under artificial light. After the second coat it was barely visible. It was completely invisible in direct sunlight and in natural light. I'm a bit sorry about this, of course Edward's Love remains a super nice polish, but with a more visible iridescence it would have been great!
Pigmentation is excellent (almost a one coater) and it dries fast.
Application: once again, I have to say that it was quite difficult to apply, formula is even thicker than Alice Had a Vision Again's one and I can't stand that new brush.
Longevity: 4 days, as usual... The majority of my Essence polishes last four days!
That's all I have for you today, see you soon with a nail art that I've just realized, I'm very proud of it and I can't wait to show it to you. I still have to decide its name, I have three options in my mind.

OPI On Her Majesty's Secret Service [and some resolutions for 2013]

Buonasera bellezze!
Oggi vi parlo di uno smalto OPI piuttosto recente, On Her Majesty's Secret Service della collezione Skyfall, che mi è piaciuta così tanto che ho dovuto inserirla tra i miei preferiti smaltiferi del 2012.
Questo gioiellino, dal nome così lungo che mi toccherà usare il copia/incolla, è stato anche protagonista della mia water marble di fine anno.
Devo dire che è difficilissimo rendergli giustizia, con le foto o con le parole. E' uno smalto davvero complesso anche solo da descrivere.
Ci provo: On Her Majesty's Secret Service è un foil blu-argento infuso da milioni di shimmer verdi, viola, blu, rosa e dorati. Cambia moltissimo colore a seconda dell'angolazione della luce ma anche, a giudicare dagli swatches visti in rete, della carnagione di chi lo indossa: in altre foto l'ho visto virare molto più al verde o al viola, mentre su di me ed altre è decisamente blu-argento.
Formula ed applicazione perfette, stenderlo è davvero un piacere. Nelle mie foto potete vedere il risultato di due mani abbondanti. Tempi di asciugatura piuttosto rapidi e durata ottima.
Giudizio finale: lo dovete avere!
Ed ora, due ciance inter nos. Avrei voluto sottoporvi i miei buoni propositi, per lo più bloggari, per il 2013. Poi mi son resa conto che ne avevo scritti solo due ed avevo passato mezzora a fissare lo schermo del laptop in preda ad uno stato di trance. Quindi mi limito a promettervi solennemente che, in questo 2013, continuerò il trend positivo del "proviamo questa o quella nail art" e vi proporrò almeno una nail art al mese. Non importa di che tipo, ma almeno una.
Inoltre proverò a scrivere almeno un post make upposo, o comunque non relativo agli smalti, ogni due settimane, cosa che mi aiuterà anche ad aggiornare più frequentemente il blog.
Ah, magari anche mettere on line il nuovo layout entro fine gennaio! Mi manca solo l'header, ho chiesto aiuto perché io non sono assolutamente in grado di farlo!

Today I'm going to show you a very special polish, On Her Majesty's Secret Service from OPI Skyfall Collection. You probably know that I've really appreciated a lot this collection, in fact I included it in my most fav polished products of 2012.
I also used On Her Majesty's Secret Service for my New Year's Eve water marble.
It is really difficult to describe this polish... And it's even more difficult to capture its beauty with pictures.
I try: On Her Majesty's Secret Service is a blue-silver foil with millions of blue, purple, gold, green and pink shimmer particles. The color changes a lot depending on the angle of the light, and I think it changes a lot also depending on the skin color. In many swatches I saw on line, it looks more green or purple based. On me, it definitely looks blue-silver based. 
Formula is great and application is super easy. Two heavy coats in my pics. It dries quite fast and longevity is really high.
Final judgement: you must have this!
Before leaving, a couple of extra considerations. I wanted to share with you my resolutions for 2013 (expecially in the blogging field). I wrote a couple of them and then I stopped. The vacuum. I'm not good with this kind of lists! 
Anyway, during this new year I want to try many other nail art techniques. I'd like to post at least a nail art a month.
Moreover, I'd like to write at least one post about make up or body products every two weeks. This will help to update more often my blog.
Ah, I forgot: in the last two months I've been working on a new template (I know, I'm slow), I asked some help for the last detail (a new header), so I hope I could put it on line before the end of January.

Orly Naughty or Nice Collection: swatches and review (II part)

Devil May Care: tripudio di piccoli glitter rossi e glitter dorati più grandi ed esagonali in base trasparente. Contiene così tanti particelle glitterose che può tranquillamente essere usata da solo, e non solo per il layering.
Su indice, medio e mignolo potete vedere come appare una passata di Devil May Care su due mani di Orly Torrid. Sull'anulare, invece, trovate due mani di Devil May Care da solo.
A me piace in entrambi i modi, anche se forse il Torrid riesce persino a dargli quel tocco ulteriore di luminosità.

Devil May Care has a clear base and lots of small red glitters and bigger hex gold glitters. 
It can be used alone of over another polish. 
On my ring finger you can see two generous coats of Devil May Care; on the rest of my nails, one coat of Devil May Care over two coats of Torrid. 
I like it in both ways, maybe a bit more over Torrid because I think it gives an extra touch of sparkle to the glitters.

Angel Eyes: aaaaaah, il mio preferito del terzetto. Base azzurra molto sheer con glitter piccoli anch'essi azzurri e glitter esagonali olografici. Anche in questo caso, vi mostro come appare sia layerizzato che da solo. Su indice, medio e mignolo una mano di Angel Eyes sopra una di H&M U Must Have This. Sull'anulare, tre mani di Angel Eyes. In questo caso preferisco di gran lunga come appare l'Angel Eyes da solo, raggiunge un'intensità ed una luminosità pazzesche!

Angel Eyes is my fav one of this second part. It is a mix of small blue glitters and holographic hex glitters in a sheer blue base. 
This one too can be used alone or for layerings. On my ring finger you can see three coats of Angel Eyes; on the rest of my nails I applied one coat of Angel Eyes over one coat of H&M U Must Have This.
In this case I prefer Angel Eyes used alone, I love the intesity it has!

Infine, Halo: un incontro di glitter dorati ed argento sempre in base trasparente. Nelle mie foto potete vedere Halo da solo sull'anulare (due passate generose) oppure come appare una passata sopra lo Stargazer 237 su indice, medio e mignolo. Anche in questo caso, lo preferisco da solo, anche se tornando indietro penso che lo sovrapporrei ad un oro foil, e non ad un oro perlato come lo Stargazer.

In the end, Halo: a mix of silver and gold glitters in a clear base. On my ring finger I applied two generous coats of Halo, on the rest of my nails there's one coat of Halo over two coats of Stargazer 237. Also here, I prefer Halo alone. But I have to say that I have to try it over another kind of gold (maybe a foil gold would be better than a pearl one like the Stargazer).

La formula è grandiosa per tutti e tre e l'applicazione è fantastica. Nel caso indossiate Halo e Angel Eyes da soli consiglio di aspettare qualche minuto tra una mano e l'altra per agevolare l'asciugatura degli strati ed evitare paciughi.
In conclusione, questa collezione mi è piaciuta tantissimo: risponde perfettamente al mio bisogno compulsivo di glitter e con Miss Conduct mi ha regalato un tocco olografico a dir poco abbagliante. Completano il tutto un rosso che più natalizio non si può come Torrid e un rosso più classico ma dal finish inusuale come Unlawful. Voi cosa ne pensate? Ma soprattutto, vi sentite più Naughty o più Nice?! Buon week-end a tutte!

Formula is great on all these polishes and application is super easy. If you want to wear Halo and Angel Eyes alone I'd suggest to wait a few minutes between each coat.
In conclusion, I really love this collection: it has a lot of fabulous glitter polishes and a stunning scattered holo like Miss Conduct. 
I also love Torrid, the perfect red for Christmas, and Unlawful, a super nice and classic red with a particular finish.

PBP introduces: Orly Naughty or Nice Collection

Buona domenica a tutte!
Ormai orfana, per qualche mese, della Formula 1, ho trovato conforto nel mondo smaltifero. Ma visto che ci voleva qualcosa di veramente speciale per tirarmi su di morale, quale miglior scelta di un tripudio di glitter, di festosi rossi o di un holo scattered multiriflettente?
Appunto: eccomi qui a presentarvi la Naughty or Nice Collection di Orly, che si candida ad ornare le nostre unghie per la stagione invernale e per le feste.

I really like it, because it includes my two favourite finishes (holographic and glitter) in different combinations.
I also think that this overdose of glitters is a great, even if classic, choice for the Xmas period.

Unlawful è un rosso creme con un tocco di rosa, e viene descritto come "lucido e goloso come la mela del peccato": ed in effetti si abbina benissimo alla mia tazza con la tentatrice Grimilde!

Unlawful is a red creme with a touch of pink. On the press release it's described as "glossy and tempting such as the sinful apple": in fact it looks great with my Evil Queen mug. And we all know that the Evil Queen is an expert of dangerous apples!

Torrid è un rosso intenso con shimmer tono su tono che gli conferisce quasi un aspetto metallescente.

Torrid is an intense, deep red with a red shimmer and almost has a metallic look.

Halo è un concentrato di glitter argento (predominanti) ed oro in base trasparente. Perfetto da solo o da usare per un festoso layering.

Halo has a clear base with lots of silver and gold glitters. It can be used alone or for a cool layering.

Miss Conduct è un magenta con effetto holo scattered generosamente distribuito. Vi anticipo che è il mio preferito, e non era facile accaparrarsi questo titolo in mezzo a cotanti glitter, ma quando lo vedrete swatchato capirete perché.

Miss Conduct is a pink magente with a gorgeous holo scattered finish. This is my favourite of the collection, and you'll easily understand why when you'll see its pictures!

Angels Eyes è un azzurro intenso con glitter esagonali olografici ed azzurri. Anche in questo caso, bellissimo sia da solo che layerizzato.

Angels Eyes has an intense blue base with hex holo and blue glitters. This one too can be used alone or for a layering.

Infine, Devil May Care: trionfo di piccoli glitter rossi e glitter esagonali più grandi e dorati in base trasparente. Nomen omen!

Last but not least, Devil May Care: lots of small red glitters and bigger hex gold glitters in a clear base. Its name is a guarantee!
