Buongiorno a tutte!
Tornate dalle ferie? Io purtroppo sì, stavo troppo bene al mare con le coccole della mamma! :(
Mi devo scusare per la mancanza di posts, ma la mia Internet Key non ne ha voluto sapere di andare oltre al GPRS (in ferie anche lei?), rendendomi pressoché impossibile navigare od uploadare foto.
Vorrei farmi perdonare mostrandovi uno degli smalti più pazzeschi su cui abbia mai messo le mie zampacce, ovvero Zoya Adina. Appartiene ad una collezione del 2010, la Reverie, e si tratta di uno spettacolare duochrome viola chiaro e verde.
E' mia abitudine, prima di lanciarmi in acquisti oltreoceanici, spulciare attentamente molte reviews, motivo per cui ho titubato non poco prima di ordinare Adina: infatti, alcune bloggers avevano rilevato tempi biblici per l'asciugatura di questa meraviglia. Alla fine ho ceduto e mi è andata bene: asciugatura rapida e perfettamente nella norma!
L'applicazione è talmente semplice da essere quasi automatica, anche grazie al fantastico pennellino tipico degli smalti Zoya, piuttosto sottile.
Due mani per ottenere una buona coprenza, durata appena inferiore alla media di Zoya (che, nella mia esperienza, si attesta intorno alla settimana, mentre Adina ha iniziato a rovinarsi dopo sei giorni).
Adina è nella mia top ten degli smalti più fantasmagorici di tutti i tempi, e lo consiglio in modo spudorato a tutte quante!

Hi everyone!

Are you still on vacation? Unfortunately mine has just finished. :(

I have to apologize for the lack of posts, but I had Internet issues and it was impossible to browse or upload photos. Sgrunt!
But I'm back with one of the cutest nail polish ever, Zoya Adina. It belongs to the Reverie Spring Collection (2010), luckily it is not a limited edition! Adina is a spectacular light purple and green duochrome.
Before buying overseas, I read carefully a lot of reviews; for this reason, I hesitated a little before ordering Adina: infact, some bloggers wrote that it takes biblical times for the drying of this wonder. But, in the end, I capitulated and I ordered it: I went well, phew! Drying time perfectly normal!
Application is extremely simple and easy, thanks to the fantastic Zoya brush, which is rather thin.
Two coats to get good coverage, longevity is high - Zoya's nail polishes, in my experience, last approx. a week, while Adina began to ruin after six days.
Adina is in my top ten of the most phantasmagorical nail polishes of all time, and I highly recommend it to all of you!

Kiko #267 featuring CND Effects in Jade Sparkle

Come vi avevo anticipato nel mio scorso post, dopo nemmeno tre giorni dall'applicazione il mio buon Kiko #267 ha iniziato ad avere cedimenti strutturali. Dopo aver tamponato la perdita di colore, ho deciso di mimetizzare le correzioni col bellissimo CND Effects in Jade Sparkle.
I CND Effects sono prodotti nati per il layering: sono infatti molto sheer ma danno dei riflessi favolosi al vostro smalto colorato sottostante.
Nella mia modesta opinione, danno il loro meglio se sovrapposti a smalti scuri dal finish creme, ma le combinazioni sono infinite!
Nelle foto, infatti, potete vedere il Jade Sparkle in azione su uno smalto vagamente shimmer, arricchendolo di miriadi di punti luce dorati e verde giada.
Inutile dire che lo adoro!

As I wrote in my last post, after less than three days Kiko #267 has started to have "structural failure". I had to reapplicate the nail polish in several points and then decided to camouflage the corrections with the beautiful CND Effects in Jade Sparkle.
CND Effects are products designed for layering: they are very sheer but give beautiful reflects to the polish underneath. 
IMHO, they are incredible over dark nail polishes with creme finish but, of course, the combinations are endless! 
In my photos, infact, you can see the Jade Sparkle in action on a shimmer nail polish, enriching it with a gazillion of gold and jade points of light. 
Do I need to say that I love it?

Kiko #267 - Azzurro

Eccoci di nuovo con un altro smalto Kiko, tra i primi che ho acquistato.
Il numero 267 è un incantevole blu chiaro dal finish shimmer. In realtà i brillini, nelle tonalità del verde, non sono particolarmente visibili, se non con luce artificiale.
L'applicazione è stata agevole e sono state sufficienti due passate per ottenere una coprenza soddisfacente. Anche in termini di asciugatura, tutto nella norma!
La sua unica pecca è la durata, che non è andata oltre i tre giorni; ne ho dunque approfittato per fare un  esperimento di layering, in modo da camuffare i piccoli ritocchi che avevo apportato alle parti rovinate.
Se foste interessate a vedere cos'ho combinato, rimanete sintonizzate!

Here I am again! I'm going to show you another polish by the italian brand Kiko, #267 Azzurro (Light Blue). As its name says, it is a lovely light blue with a shimmer finish. IRL this green shimmer is not particularly visible without artificial lights. 
Application was easy, it only needed two coats to be opaque and it dries fast. 
I was disappointed only by its longevity: after three days it started chipping. For this reason I took the opportunity to do a layering experiment, in order to camouflage the ​​minor adjustments I made to the ruined parts. If you are interested to see this layering experiment, stay tuned!

Review: Sally Hansen Insta Dry Top Coat

Sally Hansen Insta Dry Top Coat

Quando vedo questo boccettino rosso m’illumino d’immenso. Anche perché non è certo facile reperirlo, per lo meno nella mia città. Questo prodotto, che negli Stati Uniti acchiapperemmo a un paio di euro o poco più, qui in Italia ne costa circa 8.95, ma direi che, tutto sommato, li vale. 
La Sally Hansen lo descrive nei seguenti termini:

Il Problema: Lo smalto è ancora bagnato e manca il tempo per farlo asciugare. Il Desiderio: Un colore che asciughi in poco tempo e che duri a lungo. La Soluzione: Un esclusivo complesso di Polimeri Acrilici che asciuga lo smalto in 30 secondi. Doppi Filtri UV fanno da scudo alla manicure, mantenendone vivo il colore più a lungo. Il Risultato: Brillantezza massima. Una manicure curata per più di 10 giorni.

L'Insta Dry, dunque, promette di far asciugare la vostra manicure in 30 secondi: beh, non è proprio così! Ma, nella mia esperienza, occorrono veramente pochissimi minuti e si tratta, in effetti, di uno dei top coat ad asciugatura rapida migliori che io abbia mai provato. Lucida davvero molto bene e può essere applicato anche se lo smalto sottostante è ancora fresco: basta lasciar passare due minuti tra l’ultima passata di smalto colorato e l’utilizzo del top coat. In ogni caso, non aspettatevi che la vostra manicure sia davvero perfetta per più di 10 giorni: direi che parlare di 5-7 giorni in media è ben più realistico.
L’applicazione è piuttosto agevole, anche se si tratta di uno smalto abbastanza denso, specialmente quando sta per terminare. In queste fasi "finali", cercate di stendere delle mani il più possibile sottili di prodotto: infatti l'Insta Dry, se applicato "con la cazzuola", tende a formare delle microbollicine trasparenti assai antiestetiche.
Personalmente, quando la texture diventa troppo densa ed è inevitabile stendere degli strati particolarmente spessi, lo utilizzo solo in combinazione con smalti contenenti glitter ruvidi al tatto: in questo modo, non solo la superficie delle mie unghie rimane comunque liscia, ma evito anche lo sgradevole impatto visivo delle microbollicine, che tendono a mimetizzarsi nel mare di glitter sottostanti (ma, soprattutto, evito di buttare nel cestino circa 1/3 di prodotto, così anche lo Zio Paperone che è in me è assai felice). 
In generale, quello del bubbling è un problema che affligge tutti i top coat ad asciugatura rapida, per lo meno di quelli che ho provato io! Quindi, se volete un prodotto che rimanga fluido dalla prima fino all'ultima applicazione, vi consiglierei di orientarvi verso top coat con altre caratteristiche.
Come ultima nota, l’INCI, che è decisamente buono (Big 3 Free).
In definitiva, consiglio caldamente questo prodotto se la vostra priorità è quella di coniugare un'asciugatura rapida con una brillantezza più che dignitosa.


Dove acquistare Sally Hansen Mega Shine? Nei punti vendita Ipercoop, Bennet ed Unes (ma potete utilizzare questo motore di ricerca del punto vendita a voi più vicino). Il prezzo è piuttosto variabile, in media 8.95€ per 13.3 ml.



When I see this little, red bottle I flood myself with light of the immense. Sally Hansen Insta Dry is my favourite top coat but also a HTF product, at least in my city. 
According to Sally Hansen:

Keeps manicures beautiful up to 10 days! Exclusive Acrylic Polymer Complex helps get you out of the door in a flash - just 30 seconds to set! High gloss superior shine.

So Insta Dry promises to dry your manicure in 30 seconds: well, it isn't so! But, in my experience, it takes only a very few minutes (approx. 5 min.); for this reason it is one of the best quick drying top coat I've ever tried. It gives to your mani a nice glossy effect. It can be applied two minutes after the last coat of coloured polish so no waste of time! In any case, do not expect your manicure will be really perfect for more than 10 days: in my experience, a manicure completed with this top coat could last 5-7 days (of course, it depends also on the quality of the nail polish underneath).

Application is easy, even if Insta Dry is a thick product, expecially after you use about 2/3 of it. In this phase, try to apply thin coats of product as much as possible, or you will see the development of a lot of little bubbles (and I hate bubbling!). Personally, when the texture becomes too dense, I use this top coat only over glitter polishes which are rough to the touch: in that way, not only the surface of my nails is still smooth, but I also avoid bubbling (or better, the bubbles tend to blend into the sea of glitter and you'll be unable to see them). And, above all, I don't throw in the trash about 1/3 of product (the Uncle Scrooge who lives in me is very happy and proud of this decision). 
As a general note, I can say that all fast drying top coats become too thick after you use about 2/3 of the product and are hard to work with.
The INCI of this product is very good (Big 3 Free) and it can be consulted on Sally Hansen website.

In conclusion, I strongly recommend this product if your priority is to combine fast drying with a good brilliance.

Polish wars: Chanel Nouvelle Vague VS Essence Kings of Mints

Nota bene: per questo post devo ringraziare quella strafiga della mia amica Lau, che non solo ha fornito foto, unghie e smalti per la comparazione, ma ha anche scritto il testo che leggerete qui sotto. Io ci ho messo solo il titolo (no, non sono svenuta per l'enooorme sforzo, non preoccupatevi!). Grazie mille honey!


Partiamo dall'inizio: Chanel Nouvelle Vague è, per me, il perfetto colore per l'estate. E' un verde Tiffany, stupendo: la perfetta sfumatura di azzurro-giada, non volgare e senza effetto cadaverico.
Raramente mi piacciono i colori proposti da Chanel, ma con questo smalto è stato amore a prima vista. Il mio portafoglio pianse amaramente quel giorno, ma io avevo appena concluso la sessione estiva degli esami, quindi, ehi!, me lo meritavo! (sembra una frase da alcolista anonima, lo so).
Poiché Nouvelle Vague uscì in edizione limitata ho sempre un po' di remore a usare questo smalto, perché temo di non riuscire mai a trovarne un dupe perfetto.
Fino alla settimana scorsa.

Negli stand Essence ho trovato, isolato e solo, lo 03 - Kings of Mints: 7 ml di dupe di Chanel Nouvelle Vague a un prezzo irrisorio, 2.49€. Non potevo lasciarlo lì!

Il colore non è simile: è identico! Perfino la stesura, un po' liquida alla prima passata, perfetta con una leggera mano della seconda, è la medesima.
Lo smalto di Essence ci mette un filino in più ad asciugare: infatti sul dito medio potrete notare una leggera "crepa" dovuta al fatto che ho toccato involontariamente lo smalto prima che si asciugasse.

First of all: in my opinion, Chanel Nouvelle Vague is the perfect colour for summer. It's a Tiffany green: in a few words, the perfect shade of light blue-jade. Moreover, it is not vulgar and it won't give to your hands a deadly appearance.
I rarely like the colours launched by Chanel, but with this polish, it was love at first sight. My wallet  wept bitterly that day, but I had just completed the summer session of my exams, so - hey, I deserved it! (this sounds like a sentence from Alcoholics Anonymous, I know).
Since Nouvelle Vague was released in limited edition I always think twice before using it: I was afraid I could never find a perfect dupe.
Until last week.
In an isolated Essence stand I found it: from You rock! Collection, polish #03 - Kings of Mints, or rather 7 ml of dupe for Chanel Nouvelle Vague at a paltry price, 2.49€. I really couldn't leave it there!

The color is not similar: it's the same! Even application is identical: a little liquid for the first coat but perfect with a thin, second coat.
Kings of Mints takes a little bit more to dry: infact, you can notice on my middle finger a slight "crack" due to the fact that I accidentally touched the polish before it could dry.

Dupe? No: Super Dupe-ah!

Review: Sally Hansen Mega Shine Top Coat

Sally Hansen Mega Shine

Uno dei più celebri carme del poeta latino Catullo si intitola: “Odi et amo”.

Il che riassume perfettamente il mio rapporto col top coat Mega Shine di Sally Hansen.
Innanzitutto, come si presenta: similarmente al Diamond Strenght, in un boccettino argentato che non vi consentirà di monitorare il livello di prodotto rimasto.
Le sue qualità? Lucida il vostro smalto in una maniera a dir poco eccezionale (effetto mooolto glossy) ma ha diversi e non trascurabili difetti. In primis, quando lo applicate dovete stare attente a coprire completamente lo smalto colorato, perché questo prodotto tende a creare una linea di demarcazione molto evidente (vedi foto) tra aree col top coat e quelle senza. Al contempo, attente a non eccedere ed andare verso i bordi dell’unghia, altrimenti inizierà a sollevarsi poco dopo l'applicazione, trascinando via a pezzettoni anche lo smalto colorato.

La vostra manicure, inoltre, non durerà molto: nonostante gli accorgimenti di cui sopra, dopo circa tre giorni  lo smalto inizierà a venir giù letteralmente a pezzi, o semplicemente si "ritirerà" (effetto shrinkage).

Altri lati positivi? L’INCI è decisamente buono, non contiene schifezze di alcun tipo.

I tempi di asciugatura sono piuttosto rapidi e si attestano sui dieci minuti circa.

La Sally Hansen dice di questo prodotto:

Il Problema: Unghie fragili e opache. Il Desiderio: Unghie resistenti e brillanti. La Soluzione: Mega Shine - Crea intorno alle unghie una barriera formidabile, super protettiva e resistente all'acqua. Grazie alla sua formula esclusiva alla polvere di diamante, che si avvale di micro particelle di diamante, dona alle unghie brillantezza e consistenza. Il Risultato: Smalto ad effetto specchio ed unghie più resistenti.

Confermo e sottoscrivo quanto detto sulla lucentezza. Polvere di diamante o meno, crea un effetto glossy strepitoso. Non saprei esprimermi sul suo potere indurente, poiché l'ho usato in modo troppo discontinuo (causa problemi di cui sopra) per poter testare questo lato del prodotto.
Se volete esaltare colori particolari (ad esempio i neon) e non vi importa molto della durata, ve lo consiglio caldamente. Ma se puntate al lungo periodo, passate oltre… Soprattutto se volete usarlo come top coat principale. Se invece vi occorre un prodotto complementare, da usare come jolly, il Mega Shine fa al caso vostro!

Demarcazione/scolorimento sul lato dell'unghia ed effetto shrinkage in punta / Demarcation line and shrinkage effect

The Latin poet Catullo wrote in his carme 85: "Odi et amo" (I hate and I love). This short sentence summarizes my relationship with the top coat Mega Shine by Sally Hansen. First, similarly to Diamond Strength, its bottle is opaque so you won't be able to check how much product is still in (sgrunt, again!).

Its qualities? First of all, it shines a lot! I love its glossy effect! 
Unfortunately, this top coat has several (and not negligible) defects. You must be very careful when you apply it: you have to completely cover the nail polish underneath, because this product tends to create a very visible demarcation line (see photo) between areas with and without top coat. At the same time, don't cover your cuticles or the edges of your nails with the product, otherwise it will begin to rise shortly after the application, dragging away big pieces of nail polish.

Moreover, this top coat doesn't extend the longevity of your manicure: in spite of the precautions listed above, approx. three days after application your nail polish will start to come down literally in big pieces, or it will be affected by the shrinkage effect (again, see the photo above).
Its INCI is definitely good and it dries fast (approx. ten minutes).
According to Sally Hansen:

Dries In Just 60 Seconds! Advanced formula dries your manicure from top to bottom in just 60 seconds - no more smudges! Fuses and seals all your manicure layers into one powerful protective shield that resists chipping, cracking, peeling and damaging moisture. Micro-diamonds add mirror shine and strength.

Mirror shine effect? I definitely agree with this description. I really don't know what to say about its hardener power: because of the problems listed above, I use it only in special occasions.
In the end: I recommend this product if you want to highlight particular finishes (for example neon polishes) and if you don't care about longevity. But if longevity is the most important thing to you, skip it! 
It could be a great "jolly" product, but I won't recommend it as principal top coat.
