Orly Dayglow

Ecco a voi il primo smalto della Feel the Vibe, sparaflesciante collezione estiva di Orly.
Parto con lo smalto più tranquillo, diciamo così, del sestetto, che è senza dubbio il più versatile di tutti.
Dayglow è un bianco con forte iridescenza azzurra, che purtroppo si trasferisce molto poco sulle unghie, risultando visibile solo con determinate angolazioni e per lo più con luce artificiale.
A differenza di altri smalti bianchi che ho provato, e ne ho testati molti, si stende facilmente ed è opaco in due passate. Asciuga rapidamente e dura davvero moltissimo.
Lo trovo perfetto come base per water marbles, splatter manicures (ve ne mostrerò una nel prossimo post), nail art e per il layering. Mi piace molto anche indossato da solo, magari in estate e con un po' di abbronzatura (io proprio non mi abbronzo, al più abbrustolisco, ma questa è un'altra storia).
Insomma, zitto zitto e chiatto chiatto, Dayglow sarà con tutta probabilità uno degli smalti più usati del mio stash!

Here I am with the first polish from Feel the Vibe Collection by Orly.
I start with the most soft polish of this psychedelic collection, which is also the most versatile of the group.
Dayglow is a white with a strong blue shimmer that, unluckily, doesn't transfer on the nails. You can see a bit of blue shimmer with particular perspectives and artificial light.
I really like its formula because it is easy to apply and it's opaque in two coats. It dries fast and it has a high longevity too.
I think this is great as a base for nail arts, stampings, water marbles and splatter manicures (I will show you my first splatter manicure in my next post). And, of course, for layerings!
I also think it is very elegant if worn on its own during the summer, maybe with a bit of tanning - well, don't look at me. I don't tan. Never. Maybe I roast in the sun and I become orange red, but I don't tan.
In conclusion, for me this will be probably one of the most useful and used polish ever!

Polish wars: Pupa Holographic Violet VS China Glaze IDK

Non appena ho steso il primo strato di Pupa Holographic Violet sulle unghie, il pensiero è andato al blasonatissimo e difficilmente reperibile China Glaze IDK, che riuscì ad accaparrarmi due anni or sono prima che il suo prezzo schizzasse alle stelle.
Mi sembra dunque d'obbligo una comparison, con tanto di fatidica domanda: dupe o non dupe?

E' evidente, i due non sono assolutamente identici. Nonostante il punto di viola sia sostanzialmente lo stesso, il China Glaze IDK ha un effetto holo linear assai più evidente e “ordinato” rispetto al Pupa. Come direbbe la mia amicicia di smalti Serena, l'IDK ha un effetto più “LSD”.
Tuttavia, all'ombra rende più il Pupa, che conserva il suo aspetto holo, magari con un effetto più scattered, mentre l'IDK rimane più piatto.
Il nostrano Holographic Violet vince per pigmentazione (una mano per ottenere la coprenza perfetta contro le due di IDK) e per facilità di applicazione. IDK è, però, decisamente più longevo.
Parimerito per quanto riguarda la velocità di asciugatura, rapidissima in ambo i casi. 
In conclusione, ribadisco quanto sopra: IDK ha senz'altro un effetto holo più “shock”, ma se cercate un suo sostituto visto che non avete nessuna intenzione di sborsare 35€ o giù di lì su Ebay  per acquistarlo - e come darvi torto! - direi che Holographic Violet può essere un'ottima alternativa.

During the application of one of the new Pupa polishes, Holographic Violet, I couldn't stop thinking about another holo polish that I have in my stash, China Glaze IDK.
I bought it two years ago before its price increased unbelievably - actually it is sold on Ebay for crazy prices.
So this is my comparison between Pupa Holographic Violet and China Glaze IDK. Are they dupe or not?

No, they're not dupe. The color of the base is basically the same, a light violet. But IDK has a more dramatic linear holo effect. My nail friend Serena would say that IDK has a more evident LSD effect!!!
In the shade I prefer Holographic Violet, because it still shows a holo effect, maybe a bit scattered. IDK is quite plain in the shade.
Holographic Violet has a better pigmentation (one coat VS two coats) and application is easier. On the contrary, IDK has a better longevity.
Drying time is super fast for both polishes.
In conclusion: even if these polishes are not dupes, I think that Holographic Violet is a great substitute for IDK and it is quite perfect for you if you have access to Pupa polishes and don't want to spend up to 40 bucks for a bottle of IDK.

Pupa Holographic Violet #35

Altro post brevissimo ma pieno di foto su un altro olografico della Pupa.
Stavolta è il turno di Holographic Violet, un bel viola, come dice il nome stesso, con un effetto holo linear piuttosto evidente.
Come per gli altri, l'applicazione è stata agevole e l'asciugatura rapidissima. Una passata è sufficiente ad ottenere la coprenza ottimale e la durata si attesta intorno ai 3 giorni senza top coat.

Another short post (but it will be picture heavy) for another Pupa holo polish.
Holographic Violet is a light purple with a linear holo effect quite strong. 
Application is super easy and pigmentation is great (one coat in my pics). Drying time is super fast and its longevity is medium (3 days before chipping without top coat).

Pupa Holographic Strawberry #38

Ed eccoci di nuovo con un holo, sempre marchiato Pupa!
L'Holographic Strawberry #38 è un rosa deciso ma con un tocco di rosso dall'effetto holo linear non particolarmente "sconvolgente", ma comunque più evidente dal vivo che in foto.
Applicazione scorrevolissima, pigmentazione molto buona ed asciugatura super rapida.
Durata, senza top coat, intorno ai tre giorni.
Per una volta sono riuscita a dire tutto in poche righe, yeah!

Here I am again with another holo polish by Pupa!
Holographic Strawberry #38 is a pink with a touch of red and a soft holo linear effect, which is a bit stronger IRL.
Application is really easy, pigmentation is high and drying time super fast.
Longevity is quite good, considering this is a holo (3 days without top coat).
Well, I am very happy because I said everything about this polish in few words, so thank you for looking and have a nice evening!

C'è chi aspetta la bella stagione per andare al mare o per fare lunghe passeggiate all'aria aperta.
Io l'attendo per poter sfoggiare colori e finish vivacissimi.
Quando, un paio di mesi fa, ho visto per la prima volta la press release della collezione Feel the Vibe di Orly, ho iniziato ad iperventilare. Seriamente, tutti quei neon e tutti insieme?
Quando il corriere ha bussato alla porta del mio ufficio e ho realizzato che quel pacco gentilmente inviatomi da Ladybird conteneva proprio la Feel the Vibe, sono stata tentata dal mettere in atto un professionalissimo comportamento: mollare il lavoro, chiudermi in bagno per aprirlo. SUBITO.
Ma l'attesa, si sa, aumenta il piacere. Come se ce ne fosse stato bisogno.
Comunque, vi lascio con le foto introduttive della collezione ed a qualche considerazione generale, a presto con gli swatches!

You can imagine my excitement when, a couple of months ago, I saw for the first time Orly Feel The Vibe press release. Seriously, all those neons and all together???
When I received the entire collection, thanks to Orly's Italian Distributor, I was so happy and I couldn't wait to open my package!!!
So, this is my introduction of this stunning collection, I will show you the swatches of every single shade ASAP.

Essence It's Two Bright (Season of Extremes)

Rieccomi con un epic win di Essence.
Sempre dalla collezione Season of Extremes, lo smalto duo It's Two Bright si presenta nella solita boccetta doppia contenente 4 ml di prodotto per ciascuna "estremità".
Il blu è un ciano davvero brillantissimo e, analogamente al suo collega We Are All Bright, ha un finish creme talmente luminoso da sembrare jelly. Pigmentatissimo, asciuga anche molto rapidamente. La prima passata è molto fluida ed agevole, la seconda è un po' più laboriosa da fare perché il prodotto risultava piuttosto denso. Lo strano caso dell'addensamento istantaneo?!?
La parte shimmer è davvero uno spettacolo perché è multichrome: si passa dal giallo al rosa per arrivare al verde chiaro.
Evviva!
Trovo che It's Two Bright sia il duo più interessante della Season of Extremes, e sono ben contenta di averlo acquistato.

Here I am again with another epic win by Essence.
It's Two Bright is a duo polish from Season of Extremes LE, and every "extremity" contains 4 ml of product.
The blue part is really an amazing shade; it's so bright that it seems almost a jelly (similarly to the green polish of We Are All Bright duo) and has a great pigmentation too. Application was really easy for the first coat of polish, but it wasn't so also for the second coat, because the product seemed to be much thicker. Weird.
The shimmer part is really gorgeous, it's a multichrome!!! It changes from yellow to pink to light green. I absolutely love it!
I think that It's Two Bright is the best duo from this LE, and I'm really happy that I bought it.

Hits Speciallità Ares

Ed ecco finalmente lo smalto rosso, straniero e holo che avevo promesso di mostrarvi qualche giorno fa.
Si tratta dell'Ares della brasiliana Speciallita ed appartenente alla collezione Hits No Olimpo, ed è uno smalto troppo bello per essere vero!
Si stende che è una meraviglia, quindi niente fisime del tipo: "Base gommosa o meno? Limatina livellante o no?".
Ha una pigmentazione molto buona (due passate sottili nelle foto) ed asciuga velocemente. Un altro problema che non dovete porvi è l'annoso: top coat o no? Evitatevi il disturbo. Questo smalto, forse grazie alla consistenza jelly, dura tantissimo anche senza top coat. Stiamo parlando di sei giorni prima di notare un quasi trascurabile consumo sulle punte.
L'effetto è quello di un holo linear, ed è persino meglio dal vivo rispetto alle foto.
Insomma, è uno smalto incredibile e che come unico difetto ha la presenza del toluene (ma io risolvo tutto con una doppia mano di base).
Ringrazio tantissimo la mia amicicia smaltara Angela per avermelo procurato: ho un cognato di stanza in Brasile da parecchi anni ma che fa finta di non trovarli nonostante sia a due passi da una delle più grosse città brasiliane, ergo senza di lei non avrei mai potuto averlo! Grazieeee!

So, finally the post about the "mysterious" red holo polish that I promised a week ago.
I'm talking about Ares by the Brazilian brand Speciallita (Hits no Olimpo collection). This polish is too good to be true!
Application is a dream, you won't need any rubberized base or special buffer. 
Also pigmentation is really good (two thin coats in my pics) and it dries fast. 
Moreover, with this you can skip the other big question that any polish addicted has when applying a holo polish: top coat or not top coat?
Ares doesn't need a top coat, it will last a lot on your nails - I wore it for six day before noticed a minor tipwear.
In the end, it's an amazing color with a strong linear effect (trust me, it's even better IRL!).
I really love it, and its only defect is that it contains toluene; for this reason I applied two coats of base. 
Even if my brother-in-law lives in Brazil since 2008, he refuses to send me Brazilian polishes. And I'm mad about this. I got Ares and three other shades from Hits no Olimpo collection thanks to my friend Angela. Hope I will be able to do a swap in the future with a Brazilian lady because I desperately want other polishes by Speciallita or other amazing Brazilian brands.
