1) AVARIZIA: qual è lo smalto più economico che possiedi?

In rappresentanza di tutti gli Essence presi a 99 centesimi, ho scelto l'Essence Fatal, in virtù della sua qualità davvero altissima. Un vero affare, insomma!

I have bougth a lot of Essence polishes for 99 cents. I picked Fatal because it has an incredible quality... This polish is a bargain!

2) IRA: con quale smalto hai un rapporto di amore-odio?

China Glaze Passion in the Pacific. Colore spettacolare, quasi unico, mi ricorda il mare dei Caraibi e mi fa fare voli pindarici verso paradisi esotici... Ed è infotografabile. Non ci provate nemmeno, non riuscirete mai a renderlo. E poi non asciuga mai: non scherzo. Dopo 48 ore e litri di TC fast drying, sarà ancora dentable.

2) WRATH: Which polish do you have a love-hate relationship with?

China Glaze Passion in the Pacific. The color is gorgeous, almost unique, when I look at it I think at the Carribean Sea but... Capture its true color is impossible. Really impossible. I tried with 5 different cameras but no way. Moreover, this polish doesn't dry. After 48 hours it is still dentable. Even if you use a fast drying top coat.

OPI DS Glamour. E dopo anni di sbav sbav pure e semplice, ce l'ho (grazie alla Simona!).

OPI DS Glamour. It had been my biggest lemming for years, and now I have it (thank you Simona!).

4) ACCIDIA: quale smalto non ami indossare a causa delle difficoltà di applicazione o di rimozione?

Anche qui, scelgo lo Zoya Nova in nome di tutti i glitter che ti fan venire voglia di mettere mano alla carta vetrata. Probabilmente perché è stato il primo glitter "peso" che abbia mai avuto, dunque ecco spiegato il mio... Trauma.

4) SLOTH: Which polish do you hate wearing because of the trouble you have to go to either applying or removing it?

I picked Zoya Nova because it was my very first "heavy" glitter. I hate removing glitter polishes, even if I couldn't live without glitters!

A England Iseult. Penso di essere stata tra le primissime in Italia a "spingere" un marchio di altissima qualità e livello quale A England, che io chiamo "il brand con l'anima". Iseult è lo smalto che mi ha fatta perdutamente innamorare e scoprire A England, dunque...

5) PRIDE: Which polish are you proud to own?

A England Iseult. I think that I was one of the first italian customer of A England, the brand that I call "the brand with a soul", and I'm proud about this. 
I fell in love with A England thanks to Iseult, so that's why I chose it.

6) LUSSURIA: quale smalto rende le tue unghie sexy?

A dover dar credito al mio compagno, dovrei rispondere una classica french manicure. Ma se devo dare retta al mio istinto: Essie Too Too Hot. Un nome, una garanzia.
Da indossare rigorosamente in combinazione col MAC Red (ma: visto che il nome della tonalità è MAC Red, per indicarne correttamente nome e marca dovrei forse scrivere MAC MAC Red? Ok, sto divagando).

6) LUST: Which polish makes your nails look sexy?

According to my boyfriend, a classic french manicure. According to me: Essie Too Too Hot. Its name serves as a guarantee!
I love wearing Essie Too Too Hot in combo with MAC Red.

ABC Challenge: D for Diamond Cosmetics Cherry Tobacco

Credo che la Diamond Cosmetics sia uno dei marchi più sottovalutati che io conosca: in Italia, dove in effetti non viene distribuita e si può acquistare solo on line, ma anche all'estero, se consideriamo come metro di valutazione la "frequenza di apparizione" nei blog.
Io trovo che sia un brand interessantissimo, dai prezzi contenuti, dai colori interessanti e dalla qualità decisamente buona.
Comunque: ecco a voi Cherry Tobacco, un marrone scurissimo (quasi nero) con ricco shimmer rosso/borgogna. Questo shimmer è complicatissimo da catturare in foto a causa del riflesso creato dallo smalto stesso, che è davvero super glossy! Insomma, dal vivo e con la luce solare, lo shimmer è davvero evidente, un po' come appare in boccetta.
Nelle foto vedete il risultato di una sola passata leggera (ebbene sì), la formula è grandiosa e l'applicazione è scorrevolissima. Anche l'asciugatura è super rapida.
Giudizio leggermente meno entusiasta per la durata, tip wear un po' precoce.
Questa era la mia D, come al solito vi invito a vedere cos'hanno combinato le altre figliole e vi auguro una splendida giornata!

I think that Diamond Cosmetics is one of the most underrated brand ever, at least here in Italy. Even if I have to say that this brand is not sold in my country but you can only order it on line from european webshops. 
I think that Diamond Cosmetics is a very interesting brand: low prices, good quality, very nice shades.
Anyway: here it is Cherry Tobacco, a very dark brown (almost black) with a rich red/burgundy shimmer. This polish is so glossy that it was impossible to capture this beautiful shimmer with my camera, IRL it is much more evident.
Only one, thin coat of polish in my pics (yeah!!!). Formula is perfect, application is super easy and drying time is really, really fast.
Longevity is not the best, this polish suffers a bit of fast tip wear.

ABC Challenge: C for China Glaze Cha Cha Cha and Candy manicure

Buongiorno a tutte!
Tripudio di C in questo post: non solo il nome del brand, non solo il nome dello smalto ma anche la nail art usata come accent.
China Glaze Cha Cha Cha è un bel verde lime con shimmer dorato, un colore perfetto per l'estate, e difatti appartiene alla collezione Island Escape per l'estate 2011.
Formula perfetta ed applicazione molto agevole, soffre leggermente di brush strokes, ma niente di antiestetico o particolarmente evidente (anzi, posso garantirvi che questi lievi segni sono visibili solo con la macro).
Due mani nelle foto, asciugatura rapidissima, mentre il test di longevità è ancora in progress (aggiornerò la tabellina non appena lo avrò concluso), ma per il momento promette molto bene.

Ho deciso di fare una "candy manicure" (grazie a Jessica per il suggerimento del nome!), meglio conosciuta come manicure al caviale.
Perché non usare questo nome, allora?
Tanto per fare un po' di polemica, un brand inglese che mi rifiuto di citare ha messo in commercio un suo set per fare questo tipo di nail art, set ridicolmente costoso, richiedendo contestualmente il trade mark sul nome e mandando email minatorie (cease&desist) alle bloggers che avevano utilizzato il termine caviar senza far uso dei loro prodotti (nota bene: la caviar non è neppure stata inventata da loro ed esisteva ben prima della messa in commercio del loro set).
Dalle mie ricerche è emerso che non avevano minimamente il titolo per fare questo: innanzitutto il trade mark si deve avere per avanzare pretese, e non basta aver inoltrato la richiesta (che allo stato attuale non si sa nemmeno se sia stata accolta); inoltre, il trade mark si applica qualora una persona tenti di vendere o pubblicizzare prodotti tramite il nome protetto da TM, cosa che nessuna bloggers fa o ha fatto, che io sappia.
Infine, ho dei serissimi dubbi sull'applicazione di un TM registrato in Paesi di common law (US e UK) in un Paese di civil law (come l'Italia).
In ogni caso, per ottenere questo effetto candy e molto goloso, basta acquistare in merceria o su Ebay delle micropalline di acciaio (io ho preso un set da 12 colori su Born Pretty Store) ed intingervi le dita subito dopo aver steso l'ultimo strato di smalto. Potete mescolare i colori, creare un effetto a contrasto o tono su tono, applicarle su tutte le dita o addirittura creare una french manicure, l'unico limite è la vostra fantasia.
Io ho usato il colore più simile possibile a quello dello smalto applicato.
Consiglio di proteggere il tutto con una grassa passata di TC anche se, ahimé, esso tende a portarsi via e sbiadire un po' del rivestimento colorato delle palline. Ovviamente è una manicure a breve scadenza, perché si tende a "perdere pezzi", ma per una serata particolare è davvero un ammmmmore! Come al solito vi invito a vedere cos'hanno combinato le mie colleghe e vi auguro un buon inizio di settimana!

A lot of C in this post: the name of the brand, the name of the nail polish and the nail of the nail art I did as an accent nail! 
China Glaze Cha Cha Cha is a nice lime green with golden shimmer, a perfect color for summer (in fact it belongs to Island Escape Collection for Summer 2011). 
Formula is great and application is super easy; you will see that this polish suffers of brush strokes, but they aren't so visible. Good pigmentation (two coats in my pics) and drying time is really fast. Longevity test is still in progress, I will update the "school report" of this polish ASAP.

Then I decided to do a candy manicure (thank you Jess for suggesting me this name!) on my ring fingers. I'm sure that you know that this kind of manicure is better known with another name related to fish eggs. I'm pretty sure that you also know that an english brand has launched, a few months ago, a set to create this kind of nail art. A set which is ridicously overpriced. 
They have applied for a trade mark for that name in the US and sent cease&desist emails to seven bloggers who created "fish eggs" manicures without using their products. 
A couple of considerations on this affair: applying for a TM is very different from having a TM; moreover, the TM protects from commercial and unauthorized use of a name, and none of the bloggers who received that email was trying to sell products. 
In the end, I'm not sure that a TM registered in countries of common law (US and UK) applies also in a country of civil law (Italy). Anyway, I decided to use another name for this kind of manicure, I think "candy manicure" is nicer that "caviar (oh my God I wrote it!!!) manicure". 
If you want to obtain this kind of effect, you will need a set of steel micro beads (I bought mine on Born Pretty Store, but you can find it also on Ebay). 
Simply put your finger(s) in the micro beads while the nail polish is still wet and use a wood stick to adjust the beads that are not in place. Then apply a generous coat of your favorite TC to protect your manicure. Unfortunately I read on many blogs that TC stains the color of the micro beads, and so did mine. :( 
Of course, this isn't a long lasting manicure, you will start to loose beads after one day or even before, but I think it is super nice for a special night out.

An introduction to Mont Bleu's world and tweezers review

Qualche tempo fa avevo letto due reviews, una di Nihrida e una di Karen, sui prodotti Mont Bleu.
Inutile dire che la combinazione tra lime di vetro per unghie, pinzette e Swarovski mi aveva subito intrigata; quando la Mont Bleu ha contattato anche me per chiedermi se volevo testare qualche prodotto, sono stata ben felice di accettare.
La mia scelta si è orientata su pinzette e lime di vetro, ma il catalogo Mont Bleu offre ben oltre. Si spazia da lussuosi pennelli trucco agli specchi compatti da borsetta, fino ad arrivare persino agli accendini, il tutto impreziosito da swarovski.

A few months ago I read two interesting reviews (one by Nihrida and one by Karen) about Mont Bleu's products.
I immediately fell in love with the glass files and the tweezers decorated with Swarovski elements, so I was soooo happy when, a few weeks ago, I was contacted by Montbleu and asked if I want to try some of their products.
But Mont Bleu doesn't offer only tweezers or glass files: their range of products also include compact mirrors, make up brushes and even lighters.


Se la mia scelta della lima di vetro (review in arrivo a breve!) era abbastanza ovvia, forse per alcune di voi non lo è altrettanto quella delle pinzette.
Orbene, credo di averlo detto N volte: io, allo stato brado, potrei passare per la figlia illegittima di Giuseppe Bergomi. Oltre ad avere sopracciglia folte, scurissime e che crescono che pare io le concimi, sono anche notevolmente bastarde: i peli sono molto sottili ma con una radice grossa, il che mi porta ad avere serie difficoltà ad estirparle.
In passato ho speso cifre anche importanti per comprare pinzette professionali, ma non sono mai rimasta soddisfatta: il più delle volte non sradicano il pelo, ma lo spezzano alla base o a metà.
L'ultima volta che ho trovato delle pinzette che si confacevano alle mie necessità era il 1998 e le avevo pagate ben 20.000 lire (beh, tecnicamente erano di mia sorella ma io gliele fregavo).
Dato che avevo letto in giro che le Mont Bleu sono paragonabili alle mitiche Tweezerman in quanto a qualità, ecco spiegata la mia scelta.

When they asked me to choose which products I wanted to receive, I obviously chose the glass file. And the tweezers too: many of you surely remember that I have a "small" problem with my eyebrows. I wrote often that, in the wild, I seem the daughter of the former Italian football player Giuseppe Bergomi.
Moreover, my eyebrows grow lighning fast and are extremely difficult to pluck: they are thin but have a huge root, so they are difficult to extract without breaking them. 
The last time I had excellent tweezers it was 1998, I paid 20.000 lire for them (a lot of money!); since then, I paid crazy prices for professional tweezers but I have never been completely satisfied: they don't extract the hair but they break them, and this happens too often for my taste.
When I read on other ladies's blogs that the Mont Bleu tweezers can be compared to the mythical Tweezermans for quality, I immediately picked them. 

Le pinzette della Mont Bleu sono impreziosite da Swaroski da ambo i lati (azzurri, nel mio caso) e hanno punta angolata. Inoltre hanno un bottone decorativo ai lati che serve inoltre ad avere una presa confortevole durante il processo di "estirpazione".
Mi sono seriamente piaciute: sono precise ed estirpano bene il pelazzo malefico, senza spezzarlo se non in rarissimi casi.
Ciò mi consente, e non è poco, di poter evitare di rifinire le sopracciglia una volta al giorno, perché il pelo, una volta disintegrato e non spezzato, ci mette chiaramente più tempo a riscrescere ed a diventare antiestetico.
E' un prodotto che sicuramente ricomprerò quando queste avranno finito il loro ciclo vitale. Inoltre sono disponibili in diverse varianti: "lisce", ovvero coperte solamente di silicone colorato ed il cui prezzo è davvero ipercompetitivo (solo 4.99€), oppure decorate con vari tipi di design e pattern (e prezzi).

Mont Bleu tweezers have a slant tip and come in a huge variety of designs and decorative patterns, and different range of prices too.
The tweezers I received are decorated on both sides with light blue Swarovski elements. They also have a ribbon button on both sides; these buttons are decorative but, most of all, they allow a comfort brow shaping.
I really like these tweezers because they don't break the brows (only in rare cases) but they extirpate them, so I can avoid plucking them once a day (obviously, if the hair is rooted out and not broken, it takes more time to grow again).
This is a product I will certainly buy in the future and I can recommend it. As I wrote above, they come in a variety of designs and decorations, but if you prefer a "plain" version (covered with colored silicon), price is really low for this kind of quality. 

Una graditissima sorpresa da parte dell'azienda è stato poi lo specchio compatto da borsetta, anch'esso decorato con Swarovski sui toni del cristallo e del blu.
Disponibili sia in plastica che in metallo, gli specchietti hanno al loro interno un lato ingrandente ed uno normale.
Trovo che siano davvero di classe (così tanto che ho paura di mettere in borsetta il mio, temo di rovinarlo!) e credo che sia anche un'ottima idea regalo. Anche in questo caso c'è davvero da sbizzarrirsi nel guardare tutte le soluzioni decorative offerte, e ci sono prodotti per qualsiasi tipo di budget.

Mont Bleu also sent me a compact mirror, which was a super nice surprise. It is decorated with blue Swaroski elements and comes in a nice hard case. 
Compact mirrors are made in plastic or metal and are two-way mirrors: one side is normal and one side is magnifying.
I think that these mirrors are super cute and elegant and are great for a present for a lady. Also in this case, you can choose between a wide range of colors, decoration patterns and prices.

Della lima di vetro, cavallo di battaglia della Mont Bleu, ne parleremo in una prossima puntata. Per ora le ho usate, con soddisfazione, per piccoli ritocchi e manutenzione "ordinaria", quindi le devo ancora sottoporre al durissimo test finale: la limatura selveggia (devo togliere 2-3 mm da ogni unghia!). Vi farò sapere presto!

I will write ASAP a review about the glass file too. I have used it for small retouch and "ordinary repairs", but it still has to face the hardest test: the "wild filing" (next week I have to file down about 3 mm per nail).

ABC Challenge: B for Basic Beauty #103

Dopo la perla inglese di cui alla lettera A, un'altra perla, stavolta italica.
Per cui ecco a voi la lettera BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBì!
Il Basic Beauty #103 è uno spettacolare verde acceso infuso di milioni di particelle dorate che vanno a creare un meraviglioso finish foil.
La formula è assolutamente ineccepibile, dunque l'applicazione è davvero semplice e scorrevole - peraltro credo di aver già lodato in passato il pennellino Basic Beauty, non troppo largo né troppo piccolo. 
Due passate per la coprenza perfetta, asciugatura rapidissima e durata buona.
Lo trovo a dir poco stupendo sia alla luce solare diretta che all'ombra, e persino con la luce artificiale, insomma, assolutamente da avere!
E' anche il dupe di un altro "collega" ben più famoso e costoso, ma per questo vi rimando alla prossima puntata!

After choosing a beautiful but foreign nail polish for letter A, here it is a stunning Italian polish!
This is my letter BBBBBBBBBBBBBB. For Basic Beauty #103.
#103 is a bright green with a million of gold particles which create a foil finish.
Formula is great and application is super easy - I think I already wrote it, but I want to repeat that I love Basic Beauty brush, it's not too wide or not too thin. Just great.
Two coats in my pics, drying time is super fast ang longevity is good.
I think that this polish is simply stunning in direct sunlight, in the shade or with artificial light.
Well, I'm in love.
This polish is a dupe for a more famous and known polish, but I'll tell you more about its dupes in a future post!

ABC Challenge: A for A England Princess Sabra

FUOCO ALLE POLVERI!
Ecco il primo smalto della nostra ABC Challenge. E iniziamo subito col botto, smaltariamente tradotto come A England Princess Sabra (detto anche Tristam Eyes in omaggio al bellissimo micio di Adina, mente e cuore del brand inglese).
Princess Sabra è un bellissimo verde oliva chiaro dal finish holo scattered. La coprenza è perfetta in due mani sottili, l'asciugatura rapida e la durata a dir poco notevole.
Mi rendo conto che ad ogni recensione di un prodotto A England mi ripeto: finora questo brand mi ha dato immense soddisfazioni grazie all'altissima qualità ed ai colori unici, quindi ben venga la noia se vuol dire essere entusiaste ad ogni mano di smalto!
Ricordatevi di dare un'occhiata alle entries delle altre figliole, semmai non lo aveste già fatto (chiaramente sono l'ultima a postare, ahahahah, avevate dubbi?!?)


KICK THE TIRES AND LIGHT THE FIRES! 
This is the first nail polish I chose for the ABC Challenge. A very special one, A England Princess Sabra (also called Tristam Eyes, the beautiful cat of Adina, the mind and the heart behind the english brand).
Princess Sabra is a beautiful olive green with a holo scattered finish. It is opaque in two, thin coats, it dries fast and longevity is exceptional.
Every time I write a review about an A England product I have only enthusiastic words to describe it: the quality is great and the colors really unique, which is important to me - when you have 470+ polishes in your stash you want something rare and different.
