Mish Mash Challenge #16: FAUX STONE [Labradorite Nail Art]

When I checked for the first time the list of themes of Mish Mash Challenge, I immediately was scared by the theme of this week, which is faux stone.

Cosmoprof Worldwide 2013: the edge of reason [first part]

Ottimo!

Hi ladies!
First-of-all, I want to apologize with all of you. As I wrote in my last post, I have been a bad blogger in the past days, I've posted rarely and I haven't replied to all of your wonderful and sweet comments. I've been very busy and it's not a great period for me.
Hope you'll forgive me after this post, I have a lot of pics to show you because, as I've announced last week, I visited to Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna!
Before showing you the pics of my favourite stands (I will write a second post about my purchases), I want to thank Piola, who was a perfect "partner in crime". It's always a pleasure to meet in person other wonderful bloggers, I wish it could happen more often! Don't forget to check her blog because she is going to publish a post about our adventures too.
Well, are you ready for my photo feature? Let's go!

Valentine's nail art: balloons and hearts

Buongiorno a tutte!

Good morning ladies!
This is a programmed post, in this moment I'm in the middle of nowhere, I really need to take a break and relax a bit.
Anyway, I'd like to show you the nail art I did for Valentine's day.
I started with Catrice Abloom as a base.
Then, I freehanded some funny, heartly shaped balloons. As usual, I used acrilic, waterbased colors to do this.
As a final touch, I added some sparkle with a bit of Zoya Nova, a glitter polish with a clear base and fuchsia particles.
Hope you like it, have a nice week-end and, as usual, thank you for reading and watching!

The Rainbow Ladies #1 - RED [Catrice Abloom]

Here we are with the very first post of our Rainbow Thursdays.
First color: red. I picked Catrice Abloom from Coolibri limited edition.
Abloom is a very nice red with a touch of pink and a creme finish. It dries super glossy, I love this!
Formula is great, pigmentation is quite good (two generous coats in my pics) and it dries fast.
Longevity is quite good too.
I really like Coolibri, the colors of the nail polishes were so bright and joyous, and the packaging was nice too (I like the print on the cap).
This was my pick for red, don't forget to check the entries of the other ladies and have a nice evening!

ABC Challenge: W for Watercolor Nails

Meglio sperimentare, no?
Io ho seguito quest'ordine: Color Club Youthquake (fuchsia neon), Tangerine Scream (arancio neon), Orly Glowstick (giallo neon) e Catrice Blue Cara Ciao (azzurro intenso).

-4. Our marathon is going to end soon. Are you sad for this? Are you happy? Or maybe you don't care at all...!
Well, today I show you my letter W, and I picked another nail art. You probably remember that I love water marbles, I think I'm quite good with that technique, but I wanted to change and experiment another kind of nail art: watercolor nails.
The "secret" ingredient of this nail art is acetone, which is usually the #1 enemy of nail polish.
I started painting my nails with two coats of Orly Dayglow and applying a top coat over it; I think this is a very important step: before realizing this nail art on my nails, I did a couple of tests on fake nails without applying a top coat and the result was very messy. The top coat will protect your base and you will be able to create your "impressionist" effect only on the surface of your nails.
Then I applied three tiny drops of the first polish I picked for the design and I dipped my brush in the acetone, and then start spreading the blobs of color. I did the same with all the other colors I chose.
Pay attention to clean your brush when you change color.
In this case, I applied the nail polishes in this order: Color Club Youthquake (neon fuchsia), Tangerine Scream (neon orange), Orly Glowstick (neon yellow) and Catrice Blue Cara Ciao (intense blue).
Just a few tips: use pure acetone, and not a nail polish remover - this can contain parfums or other ingredients that can interfer, moreover acetone works faster; choose a brush with round and soft bristles - mine was too hard and it was a nightmare!; just to give you an idea of the size of the brush, choose between #4 and #6, depending on the shape and lenght of your nails; the strongest color (here Catrice Blue Cara Ciao) should be the last to be applied; choose pigmented polishes, since the acetone will strongly fade their color.
Hope you'll like this nail art, if you want a video tutorial for this technique feel free to ask... And don't forget to check the other ladies' entries!

Catrice Beam Me Scotty

Hi ladies!
Today I have a polish from an old LE by Catrice.
Beam Me Scotty is a dark green with silver shimmer which dries matte.
Application is not so easy, I don't like the combo Catrice brush + thick formula. Pigmentation is great, it can be a one coater if you apply a generous coat of polish. Drying time is super fast.
As all matte polishes, longevity is not high, but you can always apply a TC on it, so you can see how gorgeous it is with a glossy look.
I'm sorry for the bad conditions of my cuticles, I took these pics after three hours of work in a quarry; moreover, I'm super busy and I can't remember the last time I had the time of using a cuticle remover or a hand cream.
That's all I have for you today, have a nice evening!

Catrice Blue Cara Ciao

Buona domenica donzelle!

Direct sunlight

Direct sunlight
In the shade
In the shade

Good evening ladies!
Today I'm a bit sad: solar time means less and less daylight for two months and that always gets down me. For this reason I chose for today's post a very nice, cheap and bright polish.
The first nail polish by Catrice that I tried is Midnight in Times Square, and it is one of the worst polishes I have in my stash. I was quite reluctant to try another Catrice's product but, in the end, I gave another chance to this brand and I tried Blue Cara Ciao. And I love it!
Blue Cara Ciao is a super nice and vibrant blue. It has a creme finish, but in direct sunlight it's so glossy that it seems to contain a lot of micro shimmers. It has an incredible pigmentation (one coat and you're ready to go!) and it dries fast. Longevity is not exceptional, but it lasted about three-four days on my nails.
Pay attention when you remove it: it stains!!! But you'll solve this problem by putting your nails in a slice of lemon a couple of minutes.
A note about my photos: I had to change the settings of my camera for photos in the shade (with auto settings the colour wasn't accurate), for this reason my skin seems so red. In direct sunlight, auto settings were perfect and they capture exactly the real colour of this polish. Quite strange, isn't it?
In conclusion, Blue Cara Ciao is a super nice polish with a super nice name, and I think it could be great also for stamping, considering its high pigmentation.
Well, that's all for today, hope you enjoyed this week end and thank you for looking!
