Morgan Taylor Anime-azing Color
Oggi vi presento uno smalto tanto bello quanto impossibile da fotografare, il Morgan Taylor Anime-azing Color, acquistato durante lo scorso Cosmoprof.
Morgan Taylor Anime-azing Color è un favoloso viola neon dal fortissimo sottotono blu. Catturare il colore è stata un'impresa, alla fine ci sono riuscita solo usando la luce artificiale; sapete che preferisco sempre e comunque la luce naturale, ma non ho avuto molta scelta!

Finishpedia #11: SATIN [Orly Old School Orange]
Oggi cercherò di essere breve perché sto morendo di fame e stanchezza. Fuoco alle polveri?
Per la Finishpedia stavolta giochiamo col satin, per gli amici gommoso, dato che è proprio questo l'aspetto che questo finish mostra. Insomma, il satin è un matte che vuole diventare grande e glossy, ma non ce l'ha ancora fatta.

Layla Thermo Polish Effect #4
Ciao a tutte!
Rieccomi con gli swatches di un altro smalto termico targato Layla. Analogamente al nr. 6, anche questo è un regalo di mia sorella, che l'ha scelto personalmente. E devo dire che ha avuto più occhio di me, visto che io non gli avrei dato due lire ed invece... Indossato è veramente una favola!

H&M Purple Metal [Matte Metallic Nail Polish]
Ciao a tutte!
Oggi vi mostro uno smalto H&M arraffato qualche mese fa un po' a caso, ma che si è rivelato essere una vera figata. Incantata dalla scritta "Matte Metallic", dal leggero effetto duochrome e dal punto di viola davvero splendido, mi sono portata a casa questo bel cucciolo, il Purple Metal.

ABC Challenge: P for Polka Dots
Buongiorno a tutte e ben ritrovate con la ABC Challenge!
Oggi vi mostro la mia prima nail art a pallini (Polka Dots però fa più phaigo).
Prima, una digressione - ma va? Dovrei seriamente pensare ad un giveaway per chi si legge da cima a fondo i miei pipponi esistenzialistici della post adolescenza.
Io non capisco perché le cose complicate mi riescano con facilità e naturalezza (classici esempio la one stroke o la water marble) mentre una cosa super easy come la polka dots mi abbia fatta sbarellare. Non riuscivo a prelevare la giusta quantità di colore, un pallino mi veniva enorme, l'altro minuscolo, un altro ancora sembrava una quadrato sbilenco e non un pallino. Ma vabbé.
Questo è il risultato finale e, sbiellamenti a parte, mi piace moltissimo!
Lo smalto di base è l'Essie Knockout Pout.
Sull'indice ho applicato, solo in un angolo dell'unghia, l'Orly Purple Leather, un viola carico dal finish vinile.
Sul medio, sempre su un angolo, il China Glaze Light as Air, un lilla chiaro creme.
Sul mignolo, l'Eyeko Nude Polish (vade retro Satana, mai più questo smalto, MAI PIU'), un nude creme dalla formula liquidissima che più liquida non si può.
Sul pollice li ho usati tutti e tre, creando una specie di gradient pallinosa (!) e riempiendo l'intera unghia.
Infine, anche per l'anulare ho scelto un full nail design, optando però per tre colori holo: Layla Misty Blush in alto, al centro China Glaze IDK e alla base dell'unghia Nfu Oh #63.
Non vi sarà difficile immaginare a che carnaio di bocce ci fosse sul mio tavolo quando l'ho realizzata!
Spero che il risultato finale vi piaccia ed a presto con la Q, e non dimenticate di curiosare in mezzo alle entries delle altre dame!

Today I'm going to show you my first Polka Dots manicure.
But first-of-all, a couple of considerations. I don't know why, but those nail arts which are usually considered a bit hard to realize (such as one stroke or water marble) are extremely easy to me.
On the contrary, I have serious issues when I do super simply nail arts or designs, such as polka dots.
This mani was a real challenge!!!! My dots were different in sizes, even if I used the same dotter to do them. Some of them were not round but square, etc. etc.
In the end, I like a lot the final result, but what a struggle!
Well, this is a list of the products I used. The base color is Essie Knockout Pout.
On the index finger I applied, only in a little part of the nail, Orly Purple Leather, an intense purple with a vynil finish.
For the middle finger I chose China Glaze Light as Air, a light lilac with a creme finish.
On the pimkie I used Eyeko Nude Polish (I swear, I will never, never, NEVER use this polish again in my entire life), a sheer nude with a creme finish and a super runny formula.
On my thumb I realized a full nail design, using all the polishes written above in a sort of "gradient polka dots".
I chose a full nail design also for my ring finger, but I added a touch of magic with three holographic polishes: Layla Misty Blush on the top, China Glaze IDK in the middle and Nfu Oh #63 at the base of the nail.
As you can imagine, there was plenty of nail polish bottles on my table during the realization of this nail art!

ABC Challenge: K for Essie Knockout Pout
Smalto del giorno: Knockout Pout di Essie. Sottotitolo: I'm a Barbie girl, in a Barbie world!
Sì, perché guardando questo smalto mi vengono solo due parole per definirlo: rosa Barbie.
Più tecnicamente, è un rosa molto vivace, praticamente neon. E difatti asciuga con un finish satin.
Parlando di formula ed applicazione, devo fare un passo indietro: nella mia esperienza, gli smalti Essie potrebbero essere divisi in due grandi gruppi. Un gruppo include tutti gli smalti perfetti o quasi, nell'altro quelli con una formula meeeeeeh.
Knockout Pout fa parte della seconda famiglia. La formula in sé non è malvagissima, la consistenza è perfetta. Però ottenere un risultato omogeneo è davvero complicato: pur stendendone uno strato uniforme tende ad asciugare a chiazze. Tant'è che parlando di coprenza in sé e per sé potrebbero bastarne due mani, ma ne ho dovuta stendere una terza proprio per nascondere questa discontinuità nel colore.
Il fatto che siano state necessarie tre mani mi ha sostanzialmente obbligata ad usare un top coat, altrimenti sarei diventata vecchia ad aspettare che asciugasse. Naturalmente ho provato il metodo sandwich (due mani di smalto, top coat e ulteriore mano di smalto) per conservare il finish satin e non attendere troppo per l'asciugatura, ma si ripresenta il problema delle chiazze di colore. O santa pazienza.
Insomma, se volete mantenere il finish originario dello smalto armatevi di tempo e pazienza nel rimanere ferme; magari usate delle goccine se credete che possa servire - personalmente non credo in questo genere di prodotto, avendo preso delle cantonate con le Essence e le Qtica. Se invece volete un finish glossy nessun problema, applicando un top coat (io ho evitato il TC ad asciugatura rapida proprio per valutare meglio questo parametro) i tempi di asciugatura sono piuttosto rapidi.
Per oggi è tutto, non dimenticatevi di guardare le entries delle altre signorine! Peraltro ne approfitto per avvertirle che tornerò ad infestare i loro blogs coi miei commenti, muahahahahahah!
Polish of the day: Knowout Pout by Essie. When I look at this color, I start singing: "I'm a Barbie girl, in a Barbie world!" (do you remember the song???). Because I think that the better description for this color is just Barbie pink.
Technically, it's a super bright, neon pink. In fact it dries satin.
Talking about formula and application, I have to say first that I could split my Essie polishes into two groups: in the first group, all the polishes that have a perfect formula. In the second group, all the polishes which have a meeeeh formula.
Knockout Pout is a meeeeeh! This polish is not too thick or too runny... The thickness is perfect. But it's almost impossible to obtain a smooth result. Even if you apply an even coat, you will notice spots in the color. The perfect coverage could be obtained with two coats, but I always apply three coats to hide these spots and imperfections.
The final result without top coat is nice, I love polishes that dry satin, but after three coats you will need a lot of time for drying. I tried the sandwich method (two coats of polish, top coat and another coat of polish) but, once again, I couldn't obtain an even result and I noticed spots of color.
If you want to keep the satin look, just wait. And wait. Maybe you can use drying drops if this helps - I don't believe in this kind of product, I tried Essence and Qtica drying drops and they were useless.
If you want a glossy finish, simply apply a top coat - I used a Essence TC which is not fast drying and I waited only a few minutes.

Post #200: Illamasqua Rare
Salve a tutte!
Post numero 200, e nella logica del "ricorrenza speciale, smalto speciale", vi presento l'Illamasqua Rare.
Il Rare è un giallo neon pazzesco che asciuga, come spesso accade, satin matte.
Cos'ha di tanto eccezionale, a parte il colore sparaflesciosissimo? Che la coprenza perfetta si ottiene in appena due mani.
Lo ripeto, perché la combo giallo-neon-coprenza è più unica che... Rara: due mani e BASTA.
Applicazione perfetta, formula leggermente più liquida della media di Illamasqua ma confortevolissima da stendere e sempre autolivellante, durata mostruosa.
Se applicato senza top coat per conservare l'effetto satin, consiglio di lasciar passare 5 minuti tra la stesura di una mano e l'altra in modo da non dover vegetare immobili mezzora a manicure completata.
Io sono innamorata perdutamente... E voi?

Why is it so special besides the stunning shade? It has a wonderful pigmentation. Two coats and you're ready to go.
I want to write it one more time, since the combo yellow-neon-high pigmentation is really... Rare. Only TWO coats.
Formula is great, less thicker than the other Illamasqua polishes I have in my stash, but it's perfect. The longevity is very high, too.
If you don't apply a top coat over it, I suggest to wait 5 minutes between the first and the second coat, your final manicure will dry faster.
I'm in love... And what about you?

Illamasqua Monogamous (and some remarks on Naked Strangers Collection)

Lo so, ultimamente latito. Troppi impegni, troppo lavoro e troppo caldo!
Spero di farmi perdonare mostrandovi l'Illamasqua Monogamous, uno dei tre smalti della nuova collezione Illamasqua per l'estate 2012.
Ma prima qualche considerazione sulla collezione stessa. Chi conosce Illamasqua sa che è un brand che, poco ma sicuro, stupisce ogni volta. Punta su collezioni visionarie ed audaci e su un packaging minimal ma di grande ricercatezza.
Con la Naked Strangers non si sono smentiti: mentre tutti puntano sui colori vivaci e neon, Illamasqua propone oro e nude, indugiando nella tentazione dello sfavillio discreto ed elegante.
Per oggi mi limiterò a parlare degli smalti che, come dicevo poco sopra, sono tre: Monogamous (nude semi matte), Faithful (bronzo leggermente shimmer) e Swinger (oro foil).

Hope you will forgive me after this review of Illamasqua Monogamous and some general considerations on Naked Strangers Collection for Summer 2012.
All of us perfectly know that Illamasqua is a brand that never ceases to amaze with unusual and visionary collections.
With Naked Strangers Collections they didn't live up their reputation: almost all brands are focusing on bright and neon colors for summer, but they chose nude and gold, indulging in the temptation of elegant and subtle sparkle.
For today I will talk about nail polishes only. There are three varnishes in this collection: Monogamous (semi matte nude pink), Faithful (shimmering bronze) and Swing (foil neutral gold).
E veniamo ora a Monogamous: sulla carta è un nude rosato che asciuga semi matte. Da quel che ho potuto leggere in altre recensioni e vedere nelle relative foto, è un colore che assume inflessioni diverse a seconda della carnagione di chi lo indossa: su alcune bloggers virava decisamente al pesca, su di me, con la mia carnagione superchiara dal sottotono rosa, appare proprio di ques'ultimo colore.
La formula è un qualcosa di grandioso, e conferma ciò che scrissi sul Nomad: è densa, ma non in modo fastidioso, anzi. L'applicazione è favolosa e se mai doveste fare qualche pasticcietto addensando una quantità eccessiva di prodotto in un punto dell'unghia, no problem: si autolivella da solo.
L'asciugatura è rapida e la durata grandiosa.
Non sono certo tipo da nude, ma questo "cambio d'aspetto" sulle mie unghie mi ha stupita in positivo. In particolar modo, lo sto poi adorando per la pedicure, lo trovo perfetto per chi, come me, non ama e non ha il tempo di abbinare smalto delle mani e dei piedi. Monogamous, in questo senso, è un perfetto passepartout.
Conquistata dallo smalto e conquistata dalla collezione: ma voi che ne pensate? Vi piace questo tocco di insolito nude estivo o preferite sempre e comunque il colore vibrante per la stagione calda, anzi caldissima?
And now, let's focus on Monogamous. I watched and read a lot of review on line, and after this I think that this nail polish changes a bit depending on the skin undertone of the lady who wears it. I saw that it turns peach on some bloggers' skin, but on me it definitely turns nude pink (I have a very pale skin with pink undertone).
Formula is really great and it's really similar to Nomad's one: it's thick, but not too thick. Application is great, drying time is fast and longevity very high.
If you have been reading my posts since a while, you would probably know that I'm not a nude lover. But I must admit that I really appreciated this "change of look" on my nails! From neon to nude: wow.
I was conquered by this nail polish and by the collection in general: but what about YOU? Do you like this touch of unusual colors for summer or you prefer vibrant and bright colors for the hot (very hot!) season?

Orly Skinny Dip
Oggi vi presento Skinny Dip, ovvero lo smalto preferito dal mio moroso della collezione di Orly Feel the Vibe.
Skinny Dip è un brillantissimo azzurro deciso ed intenso con leggero shimmer tono su tono. Asciuga satin matte, come potete vedere nella foto della ruota, ma con un top coat a caso diventa lucidissimo. Dal vivo è persino più acceso che in foto!
Applicazione perfetta, opaco in due passate e tempi di asciugatura rapidi. Anche la durata è decisamente buona.

Today I'm going to show you the favorite polish of my boyfriend of the entire Orly Feel the Vibe Collection, that's Skinny Dip.
It is a super bright blue with a subtle shimmer. It dries satin matte but it looks very glossy if you apply a top coat over it. IRL it is even brighter and more intense!
Application is perfect and it is opaque in two coats. Longevity is good, too.
I think this is the perfect color for ladies who want a bright and unusual color but don't want to dare with a pure neon.

Skinny Dip è un brillantissimo azzurro deciso ed intenso con leggero shimmer tono su tono. Asciuga satin matte, come potete vedere nella foto della ruota, ma con un top coat a caso diventa lucidissimo. Dal vivo è persino più acceso che in foto!
Applicazione perfetta, opaco in due passate e tempi di asciugatura rapidi. Anche la durata è decisamente buona.

MAC Force of Love and MAC Runaway Red
Un post relativamente veloce per mostrarvi gli ultimi due arrivi nel mio parco rossetti. Che peraltro dichiaro completo, ormai ho tutte le tonalità che mi donano.
Entrambi i prodotti vengono da due collezioni limitate di MAC uscite lo scorso marzo.

Today I'm going to show you two MAC lipsticks that I bought recently. I finally have a good range of lipstick colors in my stash (as I wrote in the past, I used to prefer liglosses and had only a couple of lipsticks). Both products come from two MAC limited editions which has been released in March here in Italy.
MAC Force of Love, direttamente dalla Chen Man, è un bellissimo corallo che vira con decisione al rosa. Ha un finish matte e il solito leggero e gradevole odore di vaniglia dei rossetti MAC.
Ha una durata veramente incredibile e lo stesso si può dire per la sua pigmentazione.
Trovo sia una tonalità perfetta per chi, come me, ha un sottotono freddo ma che ha anche paura di sembrare un lampione indossando un corallo troppo acceso e troppo arancio.
Nota: una volta applicato sulle labbra, il colore è decisamente più acceso e vibrante di quanto non appaia nello swatch sul braccio! Nonché assai più vicino a quello che vedere nella foto del tubetto. Non so come questo sia possibile: la carnagione cadaverica del mio interno braccio ammazza il colore?!? Mistero.
MAC Force of Love, from Chen Man LE, is a beautiful coral which leans definitely pink. It has a matte finish and has a nice smell of vanilla like all MAC lipsticks.
It has an amazing longevity and pigmentation too.
I think it is a perfect color for girls who, similarly to me, has a cool undertone but don't want to dare with a coral which leans orange.
A note: once applied on the lips, Force of Love is much more vibrant and bright comparing to its swatch on my arm. If you want to have a better idea of how this color will look on your lips you should look at the pic of the lipstick tube! This is weird and I have no idea of the cause of this strange phenomenon. Maybe be my deadly pale skin "kills" corals?!?
MAC Runaway Red, dalla collezione Shop MAC ma già visto anche nella MAC Me Over, è un bellissimo rosso, scuro ma non troppo, dal sottotono blu. Fa parte dei satin ed è molto pigmentato ma con quel tocco di "luce" nel risultato finale.
Anche in questo caso, la durata è eccellente e sentirete per parecchio quel lieve odore di vaniglia sulle vostre labbra.
Lo amo moltissimo perché lo trovo assai più portabile dei rossi classici, magari ben più accesi, che mi donano ma che mi trovo quasi in imbarazzo ad indossare.
MAC Runaway Red, from Shop MAC Collection (but it has seen also on MAC Me Over), is a beautiful medium dark red with a blue undertone. It has a satin finish and is extremely pigmented.
Also in this case the longevity is great and you will smell that slight scent of vanilla on your lips.
I really love this lipstick because I think it's very easy to wear and match. Sometimes I don't wear red lipsticks because I feel embarassed (expecially with brighter reds!). This won't never happen with Runaway Red!
Per oggi chiudo qui, a presto con uno smalto. Vi do due indizi: rosso e olografico. Chissà quale sarà...?
