Discontinued Day #01: MAC Spitfire [Wonder Woman LE]

Ed eccoci arrivate alla prima puntata del Discontinued Day! Che cos'è? Un appuntamento mensile che ci consentirà di parlare di prodotti ormai non più in vendita perché appartenenti a delle edizioni limitate o perché semplicemente "pensionati" dalle case cosmetiche.
Sentivo il dovere morale di tirar fuori uno dei miei acquisti della MAC Wonder Woman per questo primo post. Io sono una carampana di quella strafiga di Wonder Woman! E' gnocca, intelligente e cazzuta. Non a caso Marston, il suo creatore, era un teorico del femminismo.
Venendo al dunque: il prescelto di oggi è il rossetto Spitfire, un magenta luminoso, lucido e deciso appartenente alla famiglia dei Satin.
Pigmentato ed altamente idratante, dal solito, leggerissimo odore di vaniglia, scorre con piacevolezza sulle labbra. La durata è davvero eccelsa, e dire che io i rossetti li metto a dura prova fumando con una turca e bevendo come un cammello!
Io lo trovo semplicemente favoloso, lo indosso spessissimo per cui mi sto pericolosamente avvicinando al termine del tubetto... Credo che, dopo aver usato l'ultimo nanogrammo di prodotto, listerò il blog a lutto.

And welcome to our first appointment with Discontinued Days! What are they? Each month, we will publish a post about a nail polish or make-up product which are no longer available because they belonged to a limited edition collection or simply because they are no longer produced by their brands.
For the first post I picked a lipstick from MAC Wonder Woman Collection. I felt I had to pick something from that collection because I love Wonder Woman. She's beautiful, smart and strong. Her creator, William Marston, was a feminist theorist.
Anyway, back to Spitfire: it's a beautiful, vibrant and creamy magenta with a satin finish.
It's pigmentated, buildable and moisturizing too. It also has a super high longevity, it lasts a lot on my lips, even if I smoke a lot (sigh sob) and I drink many and many glasses of water every day. 
I think that Spitfire is an amazing color with an amazing quality, I wear it quite often so it will end soon... I will put a black band on my blog to express my mourning when I'll use the last nanogram of product.

Kiko Colour Shock Long Lasting Eyeshadow #06 Lagoon Blue [Fierce Spirit LE]

Salve ragazze!
E un altro week-end è finito... Peccato!
In ogni caso, ho deciso di utilizzare queste ultime ore di relax per parlarvi di un mio acquisto relativamente recente, l'ombretto Lagoon Blue proveniente dall'ultima limited edition di Kiko, ovvero la Fierce Spirit.
La collezione in sé mi ha davvero entusiasmata, per lo meno a prima vista: dominano infatti i colori pieni, intensi, vibranti, allegri. Quel che ci vuole per contrastare questa primavera così avara di sole e bel tempo e darci la percezione dell'estate in arrivo, giusto? Beh, sì. Però, ad una seconda occhiata, la Fierce Spirit suscita parecchie sensazioni di déjà vu. In particolare i Colour Shock Eyeshadows hanno colori mostruosamente simili agli Astra Soul Colour Waterproof Eyeshadow (qui la mia recensione di alcuni colori). Googlando ho anche scoperto che hanno dei gemelli anche in casa Wjcon, brand che conosco pochissimo dato che non ho un punto vendita a portata di zampa.
Per farvela breve, dell'intera collezione mi sono portata a casa solo il Lagoon Blue (ma non escludo di "adottare" gli smalti coi saldi), un blu intenso davvero splendido e molto vibrante nonostante l'assenza di shimmer o glitter.
Lagoon Blue ha la consistenza di una mousse e si lavora molto facilmente. Assai pigmentato, è possibile utilizzarlo sia come ombretto che come eyeliner (nelle mie foto lo potete vedere in azione proprio in quest'ultima funzione, senza e col mascara - anch'esso Kiko e ovviamente blu elettrico, tanto per non farci mancare nulla).
La durata è davvero eccellente, potete indossarlo la mattina e ritrovarlo ancora perfetto molte ore dopo (anche 10 ore), e senza l'aiuto di un primer. Una volta applicato asciuga e si fissa molto in fretta, per cui non è proprio agevole sfumarlo, bisogna essere davvero veloci. Personalmente prelevo una minima quantità di prodotto direttamente col blending brush e sfumo a velocità supersonica.
Lagoon Blue è splendido anche se usato solo come eyeliner: l'elevata pigmentazione consente di fare un tratto one shot. Prima di passare all'applicazione preferisco lavorarlo leggermente sulla mano per ammorbidire ulteriormente la consistenza. Occhio ad eventuali errori: correggerli non sarà affatto facile, vista la velocità con cui il prodotto si "abbarbica" alla vostra pelle. Ergo, assolutamente indispensabile uno struccante waterproof per poterlo rimuovere senza doversi accanire.

Unfortunately, the week-end is over... Again!
I decided to spend these last hours of relax writing a review about a recent purchase, that's Kiko Colour Shock Long Lasting Eyeshadow in #06 Lagoon Blue, from the most recent collection of the Italian brand, Fierce Spirit.
At first, I was really enthusiast about this collection: it's so colorful and bright, exactly what I need in this period (the Italian spring is being very sparing with sun and warm weather and I'm really tired of this!). But I also have to say that the products of this collection have a lot of dupes in the Italian market! In particular, some shades from Colour Shock Long Lasting Eyeshadows are exact dupe of Astra Soul Colour Waterproof Eyeshadows (I reviewed here some of their shades) and Wjcon Soft Mousse Eyeshadows. 
I suppose that Kiko's international fans don't mind, because Astra and Wjcon are not available in foreign countries. But I decided to write this also in the English version of my post because I want to underline that Mr. Kiko is probably having a lack of ideas in this last year!!!
Anyway, the only item I bought from Fierce Spirit Collection is Lagoon Blue, but I think I will also buy a couple of the nail polishes of the collection during sales. 
Lagoon Blue is a stunning deep, bright and intense blue. I love its texture: a soft mousse which is very easy to apply and is buildable too. It has an amazing pigmentation and it can be used as an eyeshadow or as an eyeliner (in my pics, I used it in combo with another Kiko product, an electric blue waterproof eyeshadow).
Lagoon Blue is really long lasting! Even without a primer, it lasts up to 10 hours without creasing on me. Once applied, it dries sooooo fast, so if you want to use it as an eyeshadow and blend it, hurry up!!! I usually collect a tiny amount of product with my brush and I blend it in a few seconds.
If you do a mistake during application, use a waterproof make-up remover to correct it: it's almost impossible to remove it with a "standard" cleasing cream.
I'm really happy with this purchase, I love this kind of color and I'm satisfied with its quality too.

Twinsie Friday: duochromes! [Sephora Diving in Malaysia]

Credo di essere l'unica nail blogger a non aver postato mai almeno un Péri-dupe. Il Péridot è uno degli smalti più imitati del mondo, non mi viene in mente una marca che non ne abbia prodotto un clone.
Ebbene, andrò parzialmente controcorrente, perché oggi vi mostro l'antesignano del Péridot: Diving in Malaysia di Sephora, infatti, era già sul mercato quando Chanel ha lanciato quella che è tra le sue nuance più leggendarie.
Il Sephorino, che ve lo dico a fare, è un duochrome verde-oro leggermente shimmer e con qualche sprazzo di azzurro. Inoltre, è uno di quegli smalti dotati di pennello largo e arrotondato; di quelli che, appena li vedo, mi fan venire l'orchite. Sorprendentemente, questo mi è piaciuto, e pure parecchio: consente un'applicazione pulita e semplice del prodotto.
La formula del Diving in Malaysia è decisamente di qualità, la coprenza è ottima (due passate super sottili e siete pronte) ed asciuga molto rapidamente. Durata media.
Devo dire che questo smalto l'ho guardato a lungo con fare sospettoso, non mi convinceva affatto, credo che sulle unghie sia decisamente meglio di come appare in boccetta. E sono ben felice di aver avuto il pretesto di questi Twinsie Friday per ri-tirarlo fuori dall'Helmer.

I think I am the only nail blogger who hasn't posted a Péri-dupe yet. 
Chanel Péridot is probably the most imitated nail polish in the world, tons of brands have a Péri-dupe in their collections or nail polish lines.
Anyway, today I'm going to show you Sephora Diving in Malaysia, which is not technically a Péri-dupe: in fact, it was already sold when Chanel launches Péridot a couple of years ago. 
Diving in Malaysia is, obviously, a green-gold duochrome with a very subtle shimmer and a hint of light blue. It has one of that flat and large brush which usually annoys me. Luckily, this brush is not too large and application was really easy and pleasant.
Formula is really, really great, and it has an excellent pigmentation too: two super thin coats and you are ready to go! Moreover, it dries really fast and has a medium longevity.
I have to say that this polish looks much better on the nails than in the bottle. I wore it for the first time a long, long time ago and I'm so happy to finally show it in my blog. Thank you Twinsie Fridays!!!

NYX Round Lipstick in Frappuccino: swatches and review

Ciao ragazze!
Forza e coraggio che è domani è venerdì! Oggi vi mostro un rossetto NYX, Frappuccino, con l'aiuto di un'aiutante di eccezione, ovvero mia sorella (ciao sister!!!).
Io e la sorellona, difatti, abbiano due tipologie di pelle completamente diverse: io sono un NW20, quindi pelle chiara con sottotono rosa, e lei un NC30/35, quindi pelle mediamente pigmentata con sottotono giallo.
Credo sia interessante vedere come un rossetto nude con un tocco di pesca e sottotono caldo come Frappuccino appare su due carnagioni così distanti. Gli swatches su braccio sono miei, mentre quello sulle labbra è relativo a mia sorella. Inutile dire che si addice molto meglio a lei che a me, lo potete constatare di persona!
Da un punto di vista qualitativo, Frappuccino si applica molto piacevolmente, scorre come burro sulle labbra; altamente idratante e pigmentato, ha inoltre una durata davvero molto buona.
Unica pecca, tende ad infilarsi un po' nelle pieghette, quindi consiglio di abbinarlo ad una matita tono su tono o color burro per avere un risultato perfetto.

Thanks God Friday is approaching! Today I'm going to show you a lipstick by NYX, Frappuccino. I asked my sister's help because I want to do a sort of test.
My sister and I have a very different kind of skin. I'm a NW20, so pale skin with pink undertone; on the contrary she is a NC30/35, so a medium skin with yellow undertone.
I thought it could be interesting to see how the same lipstick can look on two different skins.
Frappuccino is a soft nude lipstick with a touch of peach and a warm undertone.
The first two pictures have been done on my arm, the third swatch shows you how Frappuccino looks on my sister's lips. As you can see, it looks better on my sister than on me!
From a qualitative point of view, Frappuccino has a wonderful texture; it applies soooo nicely, it is really moisturizing, it has a high pigmentation and has a very good longevity too.
I suggest to use a nude or colorless lip pencil because Frappuccino tends to crease and a "barrier" really helps to have a perfect result for many, many hours.

ABC Challenge: S for Swirl Water Marble

Hi ladies
and welcome back to our polished marathon! I had a lot of ideas in my mind for letter S. In the end, I decided to create a Swirl Water Marble!
As you probably know, I'm one of the hugest fan of this technique: it's not easy, it's time consuming, you waste a lot of polish but... The final result is stunning. You can play with lots of colors, finishes and designs, and each nail has a unique pattern.
Here I used Dragon and Lady of the Lake, two gorgeous shades by A England. Dragon is a forest green with a hint of gold and a holo scattered finish. Lady of the Lake is a perfect intense purple and has a holo scattered finish too.
They work perfectly for this technique, they easily spread in the water. 
I love the final result, and I hope you like it too!
A general, final note: I've recently made a video with tips and tricks for water marbling. Many readers write me to ask my help with this nail art, so I decided to do a sort of video guide. In Italian, of course. Now I don't know what to do with this video! Should I add English subs? Should I even upload it?
I'm a very chatty and friendly person, but I'm soooo embarassed about this. I've already appeared on television, I was interviewed by some local radios and newspapers, but it was for work reason. This is something different. I don't think I'm ready for You Tube!!!

e ben ritrovate con la nostra ABC Challenge. Avevo un sacco di idee phaighe per questa lettera S, ma alla fine mi sono lanciata in una swirl (spirale) water marble.
Come probabilmente saprete, sono una grande fan di questa tecnica; che è sì complicata, porta via un sacco di tempo, mette a dura prova la vostra pazienza, ma consente di ottenere risultati spettacolari, ogni volta diversi. Dà la possibilità di giocare con un'infinità di colori e pattern e, grazie ad essa, ogni unghia avrà, di volta in volta, un decoro unico.
Per la mia water marble a spirale ho usato Dragon e Lady of the Lake di A England. Il primo è un verde foresta con un tocco dorato, il secondo un viola intenso. Entrambi hanno finish holo scattered.
Inoltre, funzionano perfettamente per questa tecnica, dal momento che si aprono facilmente in acqua.
Amo follemente il risultato finale, e spero fortemente che piaccia anche a voi!
Considerazione finale: ho ricevuto (e ricevo) tante richieste di aiuto e consigli in materia di water marble. Alla fine, dopo tanto tempo, ho deciso di racchiuderli in un video. Di cui ora come ora non so cosa fare! Non so nemmeno se lo pubblicherò. 
Nonostante io sia una persona estroversa, allegra e caciarona, l'idea di mettermi in gioco su You Tube mi fa gelare il sangue nelle vene. Sono già apparsa in tv, sono anche stata intervistata da giornali e radio locali, ma era per lavoro. E' molto diverso. Insomma, per ora rimango ferma nel limbo. Vedremo!!!!

China Glaze Something Sweet

Buonasera a tutte!
La stanchezza da lunedì mi pervade, per cui oggi sarò particolarmente stringata... Almeno per oggi bando alla mia logorrea!!!
Lo smalto del giorno è China Glaze Something Sweet, un rosa baby dal finish creme, femminile e davvero adatto ad ogni contesto. Di solito non amo il rosa, a meno che non si accompagni a massicce quantità di glitter, ma Something Sweet mi ha davvero colpita ed affondata: amore puro!
L'applicazione è un tantino difficoltosa, non è semplice stenderlo in modo omogeneo; una passata di un buon top coat, per fortuna, livella il tutto. Due mani per la coprenza perfetta, l'asciugatura è rapida e la durata ottima, in perfetta media China Glaze.
Adoro i colori pastello cremosi, sono la base perfetta per un festoso layering, uno stamping od una nail art. Spero che sia piaciuto anche a voi, grazie per la visita e buona serata!

It's Monday again and I'm very, very tired! This post will be short and quick, which is quite unusual for a chatty person like me!
The nail polish of the day is China Glaze Something Sweet, a soft baby pink with a creme finish. I'm not a huge fan of pinks (with the exception of pink glitters), but I'm in love with this shade, such delicate, feminine and girly.
Application is a bit tricky, its formula is quite streaky. Luckily, a good top coat will help to get an even result. Two coats in my pics, it dries fast and has an excellent longevity too.
I love pastel colors like this, I think they're the perfect base for a funny layering, or stamping, or nail arts. Hope you like it too, thank you for reading and watching and have a nice evening!

Twinsie Friday: duochromes! [W7 Metallic Mars]

Sììììììì è venerdì! Godo come un riccio. Anche se domattina devo fare un salto veloce in ufficio e svegliarmi ad un orario improponibile.
Comunque, torniamo a noi. Ormai apete bene che venerdì, oltre che bivacco da week-end, significa anche che vi mostrerò uno smalto duochrome.
Dunque ecco a voi Metallic Mars della W7! Nelle mie foto, una mano sopra una passata di Orly Liquid Vinyl. Si tratta di un colore più autunnale od invernale che da primavera inoltrata, ma considerato il tempo novembrino di oggi, calza comunque a pennello.
Metallic Mars parte da una base decisamente viola per poi virare al rosso, al marrone e al bronzo.
Mi sono piaciuti molto il pennello e la formulazione, è uno smalto davvero molto semplice e gradevole da stendere. Ahimé, temo di aver beccato la boccetta maffa: l'augello della boccetta era infatti sporco, non so se sia stato usato o semplicemente non chiuso bene prima della spedizione. Comunque il risultato è che probabilmente il prodotto ne ha risentito, perché lo smalto si è asciugato lasciando numerose bollicine. Peccato.
E anche per oggi è tutto, scappo per preparare la cena e... A presto!

It's Friday again, yayyyyyy! I'm soooo happy. Even if I have to wake up very early tomorrow, I have to work for a couple of hours.
Anyway, back to us. You know that on Friday we wear duochromes, so here it is the little jewel of the day.
Metallic Mars by the English brand W7 has a deep purple base but shifts from red to brown and bronze. In my pics, one coat of Metallic Mars over one coat of Orly Liquid Vinyl. Maybe it is a more appropriate shade for autumn or winter, but today the weather was very bad, cold and rainy so... It was a good pick even it's May!!!
Formula is good and I like the brush too, so application was very easy and pleasant. Sadly, this product had been used or its bottle was left opened (the bottle neck was dirt and full of polish) and I think this has ruined the polish... As you may notice, there is a lot of bubbling on my nails! What a pity!
