Eccomi tornata con uno smalto davvero stupefacente. Nell'ormai vastissimo panorama degli indie brands, Colors by Llarowe ha sempre occupato un posto particolare nel mio cuore, perché molti dei suoi smalti olografici hanno una potenza a livello di effetto davvero rara.

Torno dopo qualche giorno di pausa per mostrarvi il Jindie Nails Nude Beach, aka il mio primo smalto indie di sempre (ad eccezione degli A England naturalmente, che ormai fatico a definire indie!).

NYX Round Lipstick in Frappuccino: swatches and review

Ciao ragazze!
Forza e coraggio che è domani è venerdì! Oggi vi mostro un rossetto NYX, Frappuccino, con l'aiuto di un'aiutante di eccezione, ovvero mia sorella (ciao sister!!!).
Io e la sorellona, difatti, abbiano due tipologie di pelle completamente diverse: io sono un NW20, quindi pelle chiara con sottotono rosa, e lei un NC30/35, quindi pelle mediamente pigmentata con sottotono giallo.
Credo sia interessante vedere come un rossetto nude con un tocco di pesca e sottotono caldo come Frappuccino appare su due carnagioni così distanti. Gli swatches su braccio sono miei, mentre quello sulle labbra è relativo a mia sorella. Inutile dire che si addice molto meglio a lei che a me, lo potete constatare di persona!
Da un punto di vista qualitativo, Frappuccino si applica molto piacevolmente, scorre come burro sulle labbra; altamente idratante e pigmentato, ha inoltre una durata davvero molto buona.
Unica pecca, tende ad infilarsi un po' nelle pieghette, quindi consiglio di abbinarlo ad una matita tono su tono o color burro per avere un risultato perfetto.

Thanks God Friday is approaching! Today I'm going to show you a lipstick by NYX, Frappuccino. I asked my sister's help because I want to do a sort of test.
My sister and I have a very different kind of skin. I'm a NW20, so pale skin with pink undertone; on the contrary she is a NC30/35, so a medium skin with yellow undertone.
I thought it could be interesting to see how the same lipstick can look on two different skins.
Frappuccino is a soft nude lipstick with a touch of peach and a warm undertone.
The first two pictures have been done on my arm, the third swatch shows you how Frappuccino looks on my sister's lips. As you can see, it looks better on my sister than on me!
From a qualitative point of view, Frappuccino has a wonderful texture; it applies soooo nicely, it is really moisturizing, it has a high pigmentation and has a very good longevity too.
I suggest to use a nude or colorless lip pencil because Frappuccino tends to crease and a "barrier" really helps to have a perfect result for many, many hours.

ABC Challenge: P for Polka Dots

Buongiorno a tutte e ben ritrovate con la ABC Challenge!
Oggi vi mostro la mia prima nail art a pallini (Polka Dots però fa più phaigo).
Prima, una digressione - ma va? Dovrei seriamente pensare ad un giveaway per chi si legge da cima a fondo i miei pipponi esistenzialistici della post adolescenza.
Io non capisco perché le cose complicate mi riescano con facilità e naturalezza (classici esempio la one stroke o la water marble) mentre una cosa super easy come la polka dots mi abbia fatta sbarellare. Non riuscivo a prelevare la giusta quantità di colore, un pallino mi veniva enorme, l'altro minuscolo, un altro ancora sembrava una quadrato sbilenco e non un pallino. Ma vabbé.
Questo è il risultato finale e, sbiellamenti a parte, mi piace moltissimo!
Lo smalto di base è l'Essie Knockout Pout.
Sull'indice ho applicato, solo in un angolo dell'unghia, l'Orly Purple Leather, un viola carico dal finish vinile.
Sul medio, sempre su un angolo, il China Glaze Light as Air, un lilla chiaro creme.
Sul mignolo, l'Eyeko Nude Polish (vade retro Satana, mai più questo smalto, MAI PIU'), un nude creme dalla formula liquidissima che più liquida non si può.
Sul pollice li ho usati tutti e tre, creando una specie di gradient pallinosa (!) e riempiendo l'intera unghia.
Infine, anche per l'anulare ho scelto un full nail design, optando però per tre colori holo: Layla Misty Blush in alto, al centro China Glaze IDK e alla base dell'unghia Nfu Oh #63.
Non vi sarà difficile immaginare a che carnaio di bocce ci fosse sul mio tavolo quando l'ho realizzata!
Spero che il risultato finale vi piaccia ed a presto con la Q, e non dimenticate di curiosare in mezzo alle entries delle altre dame!


Hi ladies and welcome back to ABC Challenge!
Today I'm going to show you my first Polka Dots manicure.
But first-of-all, a couple of considerations. I don't know why, but those nail arts which are usually considered a bit hard to realize (such as one stroke or water marble) are extremely easy to me.
On the contrary, I have serious issues when I do super simply nail arts or designs, such as polka dots. 
This mani was a real challenge!!!! My dots were different in sizes, even if I used the same dotter to do them. Some of them were not round but square, etc. etc.
In the end, I like a lot the final result, but what a struggle!
Well, this is a list of the products I used. The base color is Essie Knockout Pout.
On the index finger I applied, only in a little part of the nail, Orly Purple Leather, an intense purple with a vynil finish. 
For the middle finger I chose China Glaze Light as Air, a light lilac with a creme finish.
On the pimkie I used Eyeko Nude Polish (I swear, I will never, never, NEVER use this polish again in my entire life), a sheer nude with a creme finish and a super runny formula.
On my thumb I realized a full nail design, using all the polishes written above in a sort of "gradient polka dots".
I chose a full nail design also for my ring finger, but I added a touch of magic with three holographic polishes: Layla Misty Blush on the top, China Glaze IDK in the middle and Nfu Oh #63 at the base of the nail. 
As you can imagine, there was plenty of nail polish bottles on my table during the realization of this nail art!

ABC Challenge: H for Shaka Hologram Nude

Salve a tutte!
H. Dite H e io penserò all'olografico. Non c'è niente da fare.
Considerate le giornate ancora soleggiate ho quindi pensato che fosse naturale mostrarvi uno degli holo di Shaka.
Devo dire che questo brand neonato sta facendo un lavoro eccezionale: ha lanciato una quantità mostruosa di colori e finish, c'è davvero l'imbarazzo della scelta, coniugando una buona qualità e prezzi risibili.
Non posso lodarli altrettanto in merito alla distribuzione, poiché è davvero discontinua e a macchia di leopardo, ma spero che si espanderanno a breve.
Gli holografici sono stati un colpaccio: in termini di effetto arcobaleno non hanno nulla da invidiare ai blasonati e più costosi Layla e Nfu Oh. Formula ed applicazione sono identici ai brands appena citati: agevole con una base acquosa o gommosa, molto meno se non la si utilizza. Idem come sopra per la durata: scarsina, a meno che non vi abbiniate un top coat - lo ripeterò fino a farmi venire un embolo: NON ad asciugatura rapida o vi giocate parte dell'effetto holo.
Di questi holo ne ho addirittura 4 su 6, e quello del post è il Nude, tecnicamente un neutro, sì, ma che vira decisamente al rosa delicato ed estremamente chiaro.

H. H means only a thing to me: holographic.
Here in Italy it is still warm and sunny, so I decided to swatch a recent purchase, Shaka Hologram Nude.
Shaka is a newborn and cheap Italian brand and I think they're doing a great work: they have launched a lot of collections, with a lot of different colors and finishes. Moreover, the quality is really good and prices are low (polishes retail for 1.99€ for 5 ml).
Only a negative note: they're not easily available. I live in a quite big and important city, but Shaka can't be found here. Hope they will improve their distribution soon.
The Holo Collection by Shaka has six different shades: nude, silver, rose, violet, sky and green. I bought four of them and I'm really happy of my choice. 
The holo effect is stunning. Gorgeous. Amazing. It's a dramatic effect similar to that of Nfu Oh or Layla polishes. Also application and formula are similar: Shaka holo polishes apply very well on an aqua or rubberized base only and dry super fast. Longevity is not the best ever, but you can improve it applying a top coat - as usual, NOT a fast drying top coat.
The color I'm showing you is this post is called Nude... Yes, this is a neutral shade, but I won't define it as a nude tout court, it's a super delicate and ultra light pink. Two coats in my pics.

Orly Fired Up Collection: swatches and review (I part)

Oggi vi mostro tre dei sei smalti della Fired Up di Orly per l'inverno 2012. Un paio li avete già visti in azione nella mia french manicure della ABC Challenge, ma vale la pena di approfondire il discorso, per cui partiamo subito!

Hi ladies!
Today I'm going to show you three nail polishes that are part of Orly Fired Up Collection for Fall 2012. You have already seen two of them in my revisited french manicure of the last post. Let's start with more swatches and review!


Flare è di certo il più festoso della collezione: trovo infatti che sia adattissimo anche per il periodo natalizio. E' un oro piuttosto chiaro arricchito di shimmer bronzo, dorati e verdi, che secondo me rappresentano il "colpo vincente", il quid che lo differenzia dai soliti oro. Coprenza perfetta in due passate spesse e tempi di asciugatura rapidi. 

Flare is surely the most festive of the collection. I think it would be great also for the Christmas period. 
It is a pale gold enriched with bronze, gold and green shimmer. I love this shimmer, because it gives to this polish a special touch. Flare is opaque in two, thick coats, it dries quite fast and has a great longevity.

Glow è il più delicato della collezione, un bel color cipria creme. La formula è un tantino liquida per cui consiglio passate molto sottili. La coprenza è elevata, due mani (per l'appunto) supersottili per la coprenza delle foto. Asciuga molto rapidamente e ha ottima longevità.

Glow is the softest color of the collection, a nude with a hint of pink and a creme finish. Formula is a bit runny so I suggest to do thin coats during application. Two coats for the perfect coverage, it dries super fast and has an exceptional longevity.  

Smolder è probabilmente il mio preferito del terzetto. E' un classico rosso vino davvero profondo e dal finish shimmer. Potrebbe tranquillamente essere un one coater ma consiglio due passate, in questo modo il colore acquista sfumature ed intensità pazzesche. Inoltre è talmente lucido da avermi persino costretta a "scartare" alcuni scatti a causa del mio faccione riflesso nelle unghie! Anche qui, applicazione agevole, asciugatura rapida ed ottima durata.

Smolder is probably my favourite of the three. It's a classic deep wine red with a shimmer finish. 
It's almost a one coater but for my pics I used two, thin coats of product: in this way the color will be deeper, more intense and soooo vibrant! It applies easily, it dries fast (and) super glossy and has a good longevity.

ABC Challenge: F for French Manicure [ft. Orly Flare and Glow]

FFFFFFFFFFFF. Potevo esimermi dalla french manicure? No, anche perché ho recentemente accorciato gli artigli di ben 4 mm, e credo che ormai abbiano una lunghezza tale da poter azzardare una french senza rischiare l'effetto "attrice di film per adulti" (ahem, coff coff).
Piccola parentesi: credo di essere l'unica a vederle corte. So che per le persone normodotate cerebralmente NON è così, proprio per niente. Anche se... Domenica sera ero lì, piagnucolante, che vedevo queste unghie piccine picciò, ma quando il giorno dopo sono andata a farci la french... Mi sono resa conto che sono ancora lunghe. Psicopatia, vieni a me.
Comunque sia, non avevo voglia della classica french, e ho provato a reinterpretarla con uno stile a metà tra il classico e il glamour.
Come base ho scelto un color cipria, l'Orly Glow che vi ho già introdotto nel post della Fired Up Collection. Dopo aver isolato con lo scotch la parte finale delle unghie, ho applicato l'Orly Flare, un oro shimmerosissimo, sempre della recente collezione Fired Up.
Ovviamente vi mostrerò questi smalti anche singolarmente, anzi non vedo l'ora, sono particolarmente entusiasta di Glow, è un one coater!!! Yeah!
Infine, alla base dell'unghia ho applicato tre brillantini dorati, uno del diametro di 2 mm e due del diametro di 1 mm, dal kit di Viva La Nails. Spero di non averlo già detto, ma adoro questi mini kit: dentro ci sono brillantini di vari diametri, che consentono davvero di giocare in mille maniere diverse.
Questa era la mia F, spero vi sia piaciuta! Auguro a tutte una buona giornata e non dimenticate di guardare le entries delle mie compagne di challenge!


FFFFFFFFFFFF. F for French Manicure. A Hobson's choice.
Last Sunday I was obliged to heavily file my nails, which were toooooo long (IMO) for a french manicure. I know, I am probably the only one who thinks they are "short", but I think that now they have the right lenght for a french manicure (again, IMO).
Even if I was in the right mood for a french mani, I didn't want a "classic" one. So I tried to realize a combo that I consider classic but glamour at the same time.
I started painting my nails with Orly Glow, a nude with a hint of pink and a creme finish that belongs to the recent Fired Up Collection (here it is my introduction). 
Then I applied Orly Flare for the tips, using the scotch tape for a better result. Flare is a shimmering gold which is also part of Fired Up Collection.
Obviously I will show you these polishes separately, can't wait!
As a final touch, I applied three rhinestones at the base of each nails. The central rhinestone has a diameter of 2 mm, the other two have a diameter of 1 mm. These glass stones come from a kit that Viva La Nails sent me several months ago. I love it because it contains 50 pieces in four different sizes, so you can play a lot with them and realize many combinations and decorative patterns.

Illamasqua Monogamous (and some remarks on Naked Strangers Collection)

Lo so, ultimamente latito. Troppi impegni, troppo lavoro e troppo caldo!
Spero di farmi perdonare mostrandovi l'Illamasqua Monogamous, uno dei tre smalti della nuova collezione Illamasqua per l'estate 2012.
Ma prima qualche considerazione sulla collezione stessa. Chi conosce Illamasqua sa che è un brand che, poco ma sicuro, stupisce ogni volta. Punta su collezioni visionarie ed audaci e su un packaging minimal ma di grande ricercatezza.
Con la Naked Strangers non si sono smentiti: mentre tutti puntano sui colori vivaci e neon, Illamasqua propone oro e nude, indugiando nella tentazione dello sfavillio discreto ed elegante.
Per oggi mi limiterò a parlare degli smalti che, come dicevo poco sopra, sono tre: Monogamous (nude semi matte), Faithful (bronzo leggermente shimmer) e Swinger (oro foil).

I know, I'm not posting as often as usual. I'm really busy at work and, moreover, it's really hot here in North Italy, my neurons are evaporating!
Hope you will forgive me after this review of Illamasqua Monogamous and some general considerations on Naked Strangers Collection for Summer 2012.
All of us perfectly know that Illamasqua is a brand that never ceases to amaze with unusual and visionary collections.
With Naked Strangers Collections they didn't live up their reputation: almost all brands are focusing on bright and neon colors for summer, but they chose nude and gold, indulging in the temptation of elegant and subtle sparkle.
For today I will talk about nail polishes only. There are three varnishes in this collection: Monogamous (semi matte nude pink), Faithful (shimmering bronze) and Swing (foil neutral gold).

E veniamo ora a Monogamous: sulla carta è un nude rosato che asciuga semi matte. Da quel che ho potuto leggere in altre recensioni e vedere nelle relative foto, è un colore che assume inflessioni diverse a seconda della carnagione di chi lo indossa: su alcune bloggers virava decisamente al pesca, su di me, con la mia carnagione superchiara dal sottotono rosa, appare proprio di ques'ultimo colore.
La formula è un qualcosa di grandioso, e conferma ciò che scrissi sul Nomad: è densa, ma non in modo fastidioso, anzi. L'applicazione è favolosa e se mai doveste fare qualche pasticcietto addensando una quantità eccessiva di prodotto in un punto dell'unghia, no problem: si autolivella da solo.
L'asciugatura è rapida e la durata grandiosa.
Non sono certo tipo da nude, ma questo "cambio d'aspetto" sulle mie unghie mi ha stupita in positivo. In particolar modo, lo sto poi adorando per la pedicure, lo trovo perfetto per chi, come me, non ama e non ha il tempo di abbinare smalto delle mani e dei piedi. Monogamous, in questo senso, è un perfetto passepartout.
Conquistata dallo smalto e conquistata dalla collezione: ma voi che ne pensate? Vi piace questo tocco di insolito nude estivo o preferite sempre e comunque il colore vibrante per la stagione calda, anzi caldissima?


And now, let's focus on Monogamous. I watched and read a lot of review on line, and after this I think that this nail polish changes a bit depending on the skin undertone of the lady who wears it. I saw that it turns peach on some bloggers' skin, but on me it definitely turns nude pink (I have a very pale skin with pink undertone).
Formula is really great and it's really similar to Nomad's one: it's thick, but not too thick. Application is great, drying time is fast and longevity very high.
If you have been reading my posts since a while, you would probably know that I'm not a nude lover. But I must admit that I really appreciated this "change of look" on my nails! From neon to nude: wow.
I was conquered by this nail polish and by the collection in general: but what about YOU? Do you like this touch of unusual colors for summer or you prefer vibrant and bright colors for the hot (very hot!) season?

MAC Blankety and MAC Creme Cup

Pur essendo una compratrice al limite del compulsivo quando si tratta di make up, la mia collezione di rossetti è incredibilmente contenuta. A veder solo quella, potrei tranquillamente passare per una persona normale.
Fino a tre anni fa, infatti, prediligevo i gloss, e l'unico lipstick nel mio stash era uno spettacolare rosso di Deborah. Da allora ho invertito la tendenza, difficilmente indosso un gloss, e per forza di cose ho dovuto accrescere il mio parco rossetti (un rosso fuoco non si può certo indossare tutti i giorni...).
Sò sacrifici, lo so!
Oggi vorrei mostrarvi due celeberrimi prodotti di MAC, il Blankety e il Creme Cup, che ormai avrete visto in tutte le salse ma spero comunque di esservi utile.

Il MAC Blankety, devo ammetterlo, l'ho comprato perché lo vedevo spesso e volentieri utilizzato da Giuliana (Makeupdelight2009) e mi piaceva tantissimo indosso a lei.
Quando l'ho provato in negozio mi sembrava che potesse donare anche a me... ERRORE!
In tutta onestà, non è esattamente il mio colore. Per la cronaca, sono un NW20, capelli biondo scuro ramato, occhi verde scuro e labbra mediamente pigmentate. Quando lo metto, sembra che i miei colori vadano ad enfatizzare il beige del Blankety, donandomi un colorito spento tutt'altro che bello a vedersi. Credo che questo particolare si intuisca anche dalle foto!
Tuttavia, un errore di valutazione come quello che ho ingenuamente commesso non può certo inficiare l'opinione che ho di questo lipstick. A livello di performance è uno spettacolo!
E' un classico nude, beige ma con un tocco di rosa, ed estremamente pigmentato, come d'altra parte tutti i lipsticks appartenenti alla categoria degli Amplified Creme, a giudicare dalle reviews che ho letto. La texture è fantastica, cremosa, ed il prodotto scorre in modo delizioso.
Anche la tenuta è davvero ottima, sta su per diverse ore senza fare una piega.
Infine, ha un gradevole e leggero odore di vaniglia.
Insomma, l'unico motivo per cui non lo ricomprerò è perché proprio non mi dona, anche se lo sto utilizzando moltissimo comunque, in combinazione con un velo di lipgloss rosa chiaro della ELF.
Ma se dovesse essere il vostro colore, pensateci su, perché è un prodotto validissimo!

Blankety in the shade

Il MAC Creme Cup, invece, è il mio colore passe-partout! Credo che continuerò a riacquistarlo vita natural durante! Pur essendo il mio rossetto quasi giornaliero non me ne stanco mai.
Fa parte dei Cremesheen ed è leggermente meno pigmentato del Blankety, ma consente comunque di ottenere un risultato più che soddisfacente senza "accanirsi". E' un rosa delicatissimo e luminoso con sottotono azzurro, la texture è meno cremosa del Blankety ma comunque scorrevole e gradevole sulle labbra.
Anche la durata è leggermente minore rispetto a quella del "collega", ma rimane decisamente buona.
Ad accomunare questa coppia vi è non solo il leggero odore di vaniglia tipico dei lipsticks MAC ma anche la formula altamente idratante.

Per concludere: sono due prodotti estremamente validi il cui unico difetto, per come la vedo io, è il prezzo non propriamente basso. Sono convinta che siete tutte ferratissime in materia, ma per la cronaca scrivo comunque che i prodotti MAC possono essere acquistati negli Stores e nei Counters indicati sul sito MAC italiano, o per via telefonica tramite i Pro Stores, e che il loro prezzo si aggira attorno ai €16.50.

Despite being a compulsive buyer when it comes to makeup, my collection of lipsticks is incredibly low. If you see it and nothing more, I could even be considered a normal person.
Until three years ago, in fact, I used to wear lip glosses, lipstick, and I had only one lipstick in my stash (a spectacular red by the italian brand Deborah). Since then, I have changed my mind and now I hardly wear a lip gloss so I inevitably had to increase my lipstick collection (I certainly cannot wear a fire red every day...).


Today I'm going to show you two famous products by MAC, Blankety and Cream Cup.
I must admit I bought MAC Blankety because I saw it so many times on make up tutorials by the italian You Tube Guru Giuliana (aka Makeupdelight2009), and I liked it a lot.
When I tried it in a MAC Store it seemed it could look great on me too... ERROR!
Honestly, it is not exactly my colour. I am a NW20, I have dark blond hair with a touch of red, dark green eyes and lips with average pigmentation. When I wear it, it seems that my colours emphasize the beige of Blankety (I think you have noticed it by the pictures) and my skin looks dull when I wear it.
However, I committed an error of assessment for the colour, but that does not affect my opinion on this lipstick. It is simply spectacular!
It is classic beige nude with a touch of pink, and it is highly pigmented, as indeed all the lipsticks in the category of Amplified Creme, judging from the reviews I read. The texture is fantastic, it's soooo creamy!
Longevity is really high and, in the end, it has a pleasant, light scent of vanilla.
In short, I won't buy Blankety again because it isn't my colour, although I'm still using it a lot, in combination with a veil of light pink lipgloss by ELF. But if this colour looks good on you, you should give it a chance, because it is a valuable product!


MAC Creme Cup is definitely MY colour! I think I will buy it for ever! It is my every day lipstick and I'm really in love with it.
Creme Cup belongs to Cremesheen "family" and is slightly less pigmented than Blankety, but still allows you to get a nice result in a couple of coats. It is a delicate and bright pink with light blue undertones and has a creamy and smooth texture.
Longevity is slightly less than the Blankety one, but still pretty good.
Creme Cup has a nice smell of vanilla too, and both lipsticks have a highly moisturizing formula.


To conclude: there are two very valuable products, but italian price is a bit high (approx. € 16.50). Anyway, I highly recommend both!
