Beliiiiiin come sono in ritardo con la ABC Challenge!!!
Vabbé, diamoci una mossa e parliamo subito dello smalto che ho scelto per la D, il Deborah Milano Sense Tech 100% Mat #03 (il nome di 'sto coso rischia di essere più lungo del post in sé).

Deborah Milano Prêt à Porter #57 Carpe Diem

Buonasera a tutte!
Ed oggi tocca, nuovamente, finalmente, ad un altro smalto italiano: il Carpe Diem, che fa parte della collezione Prêt à Porter di Deborah Milano, caratterizzata da tanti colori e finish sfiziosi e da un formato mini, ideale per provare ed osare.
Il Carpe Diem è un multichrome: anche in questo caso vale quanto detto per il Color Club Metamorphosis, ovvero non siamo di fronte a cambiamenti di colore eclatanti, ma sono comunque piuttosto evidenti. Si spazia dal blu notte al viola scuro per arrivare al verdone.
Come ho già detto, vado poco d'accordo coi pennelli larghi e piatti come quelli di Deborah Milano o OPI (che invece sono adorati dalla maggior parte delle utenti), comunque l'applicazione non è malvagia, grazie anche ad una formula azzeccata.
Due passate ed avrete l'opacità perfetta, i tempi di asciugatura sono rapidi e la durata decisamente buona.
Decisamente promosso e consigliato!

Today I have another Italian polish for you. Carpe Diem belongs to a collection by Deborah Milano called Prêt à Porter. It includes a lot of shades and finishes and has a mini size, which is great if you want to test particular colors.
Carpe Diem is a multichrome even it doesn't have dramatic change of colors. Anyway it changes from dark purple to dark green till midnight blue.
The brush is quite flat and large, and as you probably know I don't like this kind of brush. But application is not difficult at all, thanks to the nice formula of this polish.
It needs two coats to obtain the perfect opacity and it dries fast. Moreover it has a good longevity.
I'm really happy about this polish. Have you ever seen any other Prêt à Porter polish? In general, do you like mini size products? If you want, tell me in the comments!

Deborah Milano Shine Tech #71

Ed ecco il primo post del mini-progetto Italians do it better!
Come annunciato, inizio con uno dei cinque smalti di Deborah Milano, di recente uscita, con effetto "scarabeo".
Il #71 è un verde smeraldo molto intenso che vira al turchese, con un discreto effetto duochrome. Come sapete non sono una fan sfegatata del pennello degli Shine Tech di Deborah, dal momento che ho le unghie strette, ma l'applicazione è comunque agevole.
Potrebbe tranquillamente essere un one coater se si stendesse una sola passata abbastanza carica, ma io vi consiglio di farne due molto sottili - nel caso di utilizzo con la cazzuola tendono a vedersi i simpatici segni del pennello.
La longevità è buona e i tempi di asciugatura davvero veloci anche senza top coat ad asciugatura rapida.
Mi è piaciuto davvero moltissimo e lo consiglio caldamente, soprattutto se, come me, doveste imbattervi in un'offerta - l'ho pagato solo €4.95, un vero affare!!!

Here I am with the first post of my mini-project called "Italians do it better"!
As promised, the first nail polish is by Deborah Milano, which has recently launched five duocrome shades.
Deborah Shine Tech #71 is an intense emerald green with a nice (even if not too strong) duochrome effect which enriches the polish with turquoise reflects.
Tou probably know that I am not the biggest fan of Deborah's brush (too wide for my narrow nails) but application is simple and easy.
If you apply a generous coat, you will obtain the perfect opacity; but I suggest to apply two thin coats to avoid brush strokes.
Drying time is really fast and longevity is good, too.
I really like this polish in terms of performance and shade and I really recommend it.

Italians do it better!

... E se lo dice una come Madonna, non possiamo che crederci!!!
Ma se dal campo amoroso ci spostiamo a quello di mia competenza, ovvero gli smalti, le cose cambiano un bel po'. I brands italiani non sono mai stati particolarmente innovativi, proponevano più che altro colori noiosi (i famosi rosini mosci ed i rossi menopausa) e tenevano anche prezzi piuttosto alti.
La supremazia dei salon brands americani, come China Glaze, Orly o Zoya, non è in discussione, almeno per come la vedo io, ma è innegabile che i marchi di casa nostra si stiano un po' svegliando ed abbiano iniziato a sfornare colori e finish più interessanti e meno conservativi.
In alcuni casi i prezzi sono sempre alti, di nuovo secondo la mia opinione, ma vabbé.
Ho dunque pensato di proporre un periodo di swatches e posts tutto italiano, presentandovi alcune novità, come uno degli smalti effetto scarabeo di Deborah Milano e un olografico di Layla, ed altri colori di certo non innovativi ma che mi son piaciuti parecchio.

Many years ago Madonna wore a t-shirt with this writing: Italians do it better.
Unfortunately this is not true when it comes to nail polishes: italian brands used to have a little (and sad!) range of shades, with lots of dull pinks and "menopause reds" and also high prices!
Happily, things have recently changed: even if the supremacy of US salon brands is undisputed, at least in my opinion, we are seeing new and unusual colors and finishes in the last period (but prices are always too high in some cases).
Anyway I'd like to propose a series of posts with "italian only" brands. I will include a couple of news in the italian market, like a holo polish by Layla and a duochrome polish by Deborah Milano, but also other shades that I really like.
This will be my schedule:

My New Year Party look

Buonasera ragazze!
Il post arriva in ritardo ma volevo comunque farvi vedere il mio make up dell'ultimo dell'anno. Premesso che mi ritengo una buona dilettante del trucco e non certo un fenomeno, devo anche fare i conti anche con una fotocamera assai antipatica che sembra appiattire i pregi delle mie "opere" e tirar fuori difetti inesistenti. Mah. In queste foto, ad esempio, si è mangiata completamente l'eyeliner in glitter che avevo messo all'attaccatura delle ciglia superiori, la stronza, mentre ha creato una linea di scolorimento nella rima palpebrale che assolutamente non c'era. Non appena le mie finanze saranno più floride (ahahah, battutone!) la signorina verrà defenestrata, tié!

I'm a bit late but here it is my New Year Party make up! I know, there's a lot of beauty bloggers who create amazing looks. I'm not among them (sigh). I think I am only a good amateur. Moreover, my photocamera is hateful and not collaborative. It seems it flattens my looks and it highlights nonexistent faults. Sgrunt. In these pics, for example, there's no trace of the glitter eyeliner I used near the eyelash line. Anyway, hope you like it!

Polish wars: Kiko 354 Constellation Purple VS Deborah Shine Tech 60

Buongiorno ragazze!
E' giunto il momento di una nuova sfida tra smalti. Già a pochissimi giorni dell'uscita della Light Impulse Collection di Kiko in molte abbiamo gridato al dupe vedendo lo smalto più ricercato tra quelli della collezione, il #354 Constellation Purple. Un po' troppo simile al #60 della linea Shine Tech di Deborah...
Dunque vediamo se questo spettro del dupe ha ragione di esistere!

Vorrei iniziare con un appello a Kiko: per cortesia, non iniziate a fare come Essence, che parla di smalti olografici a sproposito.
Entrambi gli smalti, è evidente, non hanno un finish olografico ma sono dei super shimmer, al limite del foil.
La differenza più evidente fra i due è rappresentata dal colore di base: alla prima passata, il Kiko è lievemente più chiaro e con un sottotono rosso maggiormente pronunciato, mentre il sottotono del Deborah è decisamente più blu, ma questa lieve differenza si perde completamente dalla seconda mano in poi.
Anche la pigmentazione dei nostri due contendenti è analoga: la coprenza è buona già alla seconda mano, ma ne consiglio caldamente una terza.
Ero ormai giunta alla conclusione che i due smalti fossero identici in tutto e per tutto (peraltro entrambi sono made in France), quando ho notato che il Kiko ha dei tempi di asciugatura maggiori del Deborah. Curioso.
Ho preferito di gran lunga l'applicazione del Deborah: non tanto per una questione di formula (sono sostanzialmente identiche), quanto per il pennello, più grosso, piatto e stondato rispetto al Kiko, e per me molto più pratico.

In conclusione: se vi sono differenze di colore tra i due a manicure terminata, ci vuole un occhio più raffinato del mio per coglierle. Se dovessi sceglierne solo uno, punterei sul Deborah, soprattutto per una questione di facilità di applicazione grazie al pennellino ben più ergonomico e per la velocità di asciugatura.
La differenza di prezzo tra i due, tuttavia, può essere notevole: 4.90€ per il Kiko, mentre il Deborah costa 7.80€ da listino, ma può essere tranquillamente reperito a molto meno in diversi negozi (come La Saponeria, dove l'ho acquistato io ad un prezzo di 5.90€).
A voi l'ardua sentenza: dupe or not?

Good afternoon ladies!
Today I have a comparison for you: Kiko #354 Constellation Purple, one of the new polishes included in the Light Impulse Collection, versus Deborah Shine Tech #60.
Kiko #354 has been a suspicous dupe of Deborah since the first swatches and promo pics; when I saw it in the store, it looked a bit different from Deborah Shine Tech, base color seems more lighter and gold effect less strong. Probably it was only a matter of artificial light: in my honest opinion, they are dupes.


First-of-all: please, Kiko, don't call "hologram" a polish that hasn't a holo finish at all. Please, don't do it.
Both polishes, it is clear, do not have a holographic finish, but they are super shimmer, nearly foil.
The most obvious difference between the two polishes is represented by the base color: after one coat, Kiko is slightly lighter and with a more pronounced red undertone (Deborah #60 has a blue undertone), but this slight difference is completely lost after the second coat.
Even the pigmentation of our two contenders is similar: the coverage is good with two coats.
Curiously, I noticed that Kiko Constellation Purple dries less fast than Deborah Shine Tech.
About application: I prefer the application of Deborah: it isn't a matter of formula (they are essentially identical), but a matter of brush. You can see a comparison in the picture above: Deborah brush is larger, flatter and rounder compared to Kiko brush, and it is much more practical IMO.


In conclusion: if there are differences in color between the two polishes, it takes a finest eye than mine to discover them. If I had to pick just one, I would say Deborah polish, expecially for the easier application and faster drying time.
However, the difference in price between the two polishes can be substantial: Kiko retails for 4.90 €, Deborah for € 7.80 but it can easily be found for much less in different italian stores (I paid it 5.90 €).

Never without: essential products (make up edition)

Buongiorno! State passando una buona domenica? La mia è iniziata incredibilmente presto, per essere un giorno di festa: levataccia alle 7.30 per vedere il Gran Premio di Corea, ed era meglio che me ne stessi a dormire!!!
Ma veniamo a noi. Ho deciso di proporre, in più puntate, una carrellata di prodotti beauty di cui mai potrei fare a meno.
E vorrei iniziare dal make up!
Quelli che andrò ad elencare non sono solo i miei preferiti, ma anche quelli che mi trascino quotidianamente in giro in borsa. In genere non mi trucco (o mi trucco molto poco) per andare a lavoro, cosa di cui talvolta mi sono pentita, come in quell'occasione in cui mi sono trovata ad accogliere Importanti (ed Inaspettati) Ospiti con le occhiaie fino a terra e mega brufoli in bella vista (si sa, alla mia età l'acne è psicosomatica, i bubboni spuntano solo quando proprio non devono spuntare!).

I usually don't wear make up when I go to work, and sometimes I regret a lot this choice. For example I remember a particular episode: I had awful shadows under my eyes and also some horrible spots, and I received the visit of Important (and Unexpected) Guests. Ops. MAC Paint Pot in Painterly: io adoro questo prodotto. Se potessi, gli farei un altarino. Non finirò mai di ringraziare la mia amica Eleonora per avermelo consigliato. Per me è un vero e proprio jolly: lo uso come correttore per le occhiaie (la tonalità è perfetta!), come primer e come ombretto da stendere sull'intera palpebra quando sono di fretta o quando voglio un look neutro. Lo metto anche sui brufoletti per nasconderli, anche se so che non si dovrebbe fare (contiene siliconi che tendono ad occludere i pori), ma giuro che è un utilizzo occasionale!

MAC Paint Pot in Painterly: I LOVE this product. I want to thank a million times my friend Eleonora who suggested me its purchase. To me, it's a jolly product: I use it as a concealer for my shadows (it suits perfectly my skin tone), as an eyeshadows primer, as a unique eyeshadow when I am in a hurry or when I want a neutral look. I use it also as a concealer for spots - ok, honestly I can't recommend this use, because it contains silicons and it could be comedogenic (I do it rarely, I swear!).

Essence Pocket Beauty Eyeshadow to Go in Eye love to travel: un nome molto lungo per una palette piccola, compatta e pratica, che contiene ben otto ombretti che consentono di realizzare dal trucco più pazzo e colorato a quello più soft e discreto; inoltre sono ben pigmentati e poco polverosi. E costa veramente poco, meglio di così!

Essence Pocket Beauty Eyeshadow to Go in Eye love to travel: wow, a very long name for a small palette! It's tiny but it contains eight eyeshadows and you can choose between a neutral make up with cream, brown or light pink or a crazy make up with teal and violet. These eyeshadows are a bit dusty but really pigmented. Moreover it's a super cheap product!

Deborah Ultraliner in Black: è il mio eyeliner preferito. Mi piace l'applicatore, in feltro, morbido e preciso, mi piace il punto di nero e dura davvero a lungo senza "perdersi" in giro per l'occhio.

Helena Rubinstein Lash Queen Mascara in Wild Black: probabilmente il miglior mascara che abbia mai usato, a parimerito con lo Shu Uemura. Allunga, volumizza, non appiccica le ciglia e non cola. Meglio di così...! Purtroppo sta per terminare e mi dispiace molto che non potrò ricomprarlo finché non avrò smaltito gli altri due mascara neri che albergano in un angolino buio del mio beauty. Così imparo ad aprire il portafogli con troppa disinvoltura!!!

Helena Rubinstein Lash Queen Mascara in Wild Black: this is probably the best mascara ever (IMO, of course). It lengthens, thickens and dramatises my eyelashes. It has an incredible longevity and it doesn't smudge.

Essence Eyebrow Designer in Brown: ho letto reviews contrastanti su questa matita, che a me piace molto. Scrive bene, non è troppo dura e non sbava, oltre ad avere un prezzo estremamente friendly!

Essence Lash&Brow: avete presente Giuseppe Bergomi, ex calciatore dell'Inter e della Nazionale? Ecco, allo stato brado le mie sopracciglia sono molto simili alle sue. Motivo per cui le spinzetto con puntualità e vigore. Tuttavia, essendo moooolto lunghe, tendono ad andare un po' per cavoli loro durante la giornata. Ecco perché questo gel trasparente è tra i miei preferiti: le tiene al loro posto tutto il giorno! (ecco, appunto: il gel è completamente trasparente, cosa che non è nelle mie foto, dato il suo stato di ultrautilizzato!)

Essence Lash&Brow: I'm sure that international readers don't know the ex Italian football player Giuseppe Bergomi, but he's incredibly popular here (he played in Inter FC and he won the World Cup in 1982). Check his photo, please. Ok: my eyebrows, in the wild, are extremely similar to his. So I take a lot of care of these potentially evil eyebrows, I shave them every three days and I always use this gel for my eyebrows set. (the gel is completely clear, sorry but I have used it a lot so it isn't so in my photo)

Essence Pocket Brush: non è un vero e proprio prodotto di make up, ma davvero non posso farne a meno. Mi consente di controllare furtivamente se la matita occhi m'è finita ad altezza mento, o di darmi una pettinata in caso di emergenza (scusate per la prospettiva strana della foto, è stato l'unico modo per evitare il mio riflesso nello specchietto!).

Essence Pocket Brush: maybe it's not a classic make up product, but I think it's one of the most important "essential". It has a mirror, just to control that you don't have lipstick on your teeth, and a brush. Love it! (sorry for the strange perspective of this photo but I had to avoid MY reflection in the mirror!)
